The swaying white balloon

Most of the time in this film, it focuses on the incident of the little girl buying goldfish, not as good as the rest. The audience naturally follows it wholeheartedly and will not leave for a moment. Lest the cute little girl really lose money/get beaten/disappointed and thus have a bad New Year, worry about gain and loss. By the end of the clinker, the little girl finally got what she wanted, and the audience sighed, ready to return with a satisfied HE finale. The director switched the camera and aimed at the Afghan boy who fulfilled all the people on and off the screen. Aim at his lonely face/dazed eyes, and his white balloon swaying on the pole. At that moment, really, people were caught off guard/bewildered, and they were slapped in the face.

I have to say, this is the finishing touch of this piece. This film is so extraordinary, so meaningful. In addition to the killer at the end of the film, the film actually has a lot to highlight. This is briefly described as follows:

One, it is natural. The little girl is the type that is said to be eaten by the gods. There is no trace at all, this is the highest level of acting skills. And my brother, and that big Afghan boy. It seems that they are all amateur actors, as if they are playing themselves. It is natural to raise hands and gestures, and there is absolutely no trace of axe.

Second, the Iranian New Year. Baidu found that the Iranian New Year is in late March (about March 21), but, in the film, the starting point of the New Year is daylight? A little puzzled. This can be doubted at first and left to be solved in the future.

Third, the goldfish symbol. Search Baidu learned that goldfish in Iranian New Year culture, the meaning is: vitality. No wonder, whether it's a little girl or a little boy in the neighborhood, they all choose goldfish.

4. Ethnic minorities. In any country, there will be minorities. How to treat them and how they deal with themselves is also a hot topic today. For example, those refugee groups living in various countries, such as us Jingpiao people. The reality is that most ethnic minorities work/pave/build for the majority. Of course, from another perspective, ethnic minorities also have to rely on the wisdom/technology/medicine of the majority to survive. Interdependence is the essence of this relationship. This film also uses the swaying white ball to more clearly show this relationship to each of us.

5. Iranian movies. I have watched "Little Shoes", "Where is My Friend's Home" and the new film "I grew up in Iran" (let's count it as an Iranian movie). How to say, very exotic. It is very different from the imagined Persian Empire. These films show the backward side of Iran's economy. The information that I have heard and seen is not connected to each other. It is estimated that it is also a country with severe wealth disparity/polarization. To be confirmed.

There is nothing else. The overall feeling is a good film, must be praised, 8.5/10 points.

The White Balloon quotes

  • Ali: You're whining again!

Razieh: Mom refuses to give me money for the goldfish.

    Ali: Don't you like ours?

Razieh: You call these goldfish, you haven't seen the others. It's as though they're dancing when they move their fins. And they've got so many fins.

    Ali: How much?

Razieh: The shopkeeper said 100 tomans.

Ali: 100 tomans! You want to pay 100 tomans for a goldfish. You can watch two films with that money. You're nuts.

  • Shop Owner: Time to go home now.
