I saw this film by chance many years ago, and I felt very shocked, because the picture effect is not very good, and it is in English subtitles, some parts are not fully understood, but only some are enough. Not much is known about religion, except that the religious tradition (Catholicism) in Montreal is very strict.
Because this film began to be interested in Canadian French films, but unfortunately I have seen only a few so far. In addition to this film, I recommend another "August 32", which is the debut work of a young director. Excellent.
ps The hero Lothaire Bluteau's eyes are quite neurotic and his performance is excellent. Another of his business cards should be "Black Robe", which is also related to religion.
