"She won with softness and penetrated my heart"

Ending Poem

C'est une rencontre pas ordinaire.

This was no ordinary encounter.

Entre amour et tendresse,

In addition to love and warmth,

elle avait pas d'autre adresse.

There are no other adjectives.

Elle avait un nom de fleur, elle vivait au milieu des mots.

In the name of flowers, she lives in words.

Des adjectifs tirés par les tifs.

In entwined adjectives,

Des verbes qui poussent comme des herbes.

In the verbs with long grass,

Y en a qui passe en force.

Some people just broke free,

Elle est passée en douceur, de mon écorce.

But she prevailed with softness, penetrated me

à on coeur.

until my heart

Dans les histoires d'amour, ya pas toujours que de lèamour.

It's not just love in stories about love.

Parfois,

sometimes

Y a même pas de "je t'aime'pourtant"

Not even "I love you"

Pourtant, on s'aime.

But we still love each other.

C'est une recontre pas ordinaire.

This was no ordinary encounter.

Je l'ai trouvée par hasard sur un banc de mon square.

I found her by chance on a bench in the square

Elle faisait pas trop d'écume, pas plus grosse qu'une colombe,

She is inconspicuous, like a little white dove,

avec ses petites plumes.

with her delicate feathers

Elle était au milieu des mots,

she lives in words

des noms communs, comme moi.

Wander around ordinary words like me.

Elle m'a donné livre, puis deux,

She gave me a book, then two

des pages qui m'ont éclaté devant les yeux.

Page after page flashed before my eyes

Meurs pas maintenant, t'as le temps, attends.

Don't wither, there's still time, wait a minute

C'est pas l'heure, ma petite fleur.

Not yet, my little flower.

Donne-moi encore un peu de toi.

Share some more with me.

Donne-moi encore un peu de ta vie.

share some of your life

Attends

Wait a moment

Dans les histoires d'amour, ya pas toujours que de l'amour.

It's not just love in stories about love.

parfois, ya même pas de je t'aime'pourtant

Not even "I love you"

Pourtant on sèaime.

Yet we love each other.

My Afternoons with Margueritte quotes

  • Germain Chazes: It's not a typical love affair, but love and tenderness, both are there. Named after a daisy, she lived amongst words, surrounded by adjectives in green fields of verbs. Some force you yield to. But she, with soft art, passed through my hard shield and into my heart. Not always are love stories just made of love. Sometimes love is not named but it's love just the same. This is not a typical love affair I met her on a bench in my local square. She made a little stir, tiny like a bird with her gentle feathers. She was surrounded by words, some as common as myself. She gave me books, two or three Their pages have come alive for me. Don't die now, you've still got time, just wait It's not the hour, my little flower Give me some more of you. More of the life in you Wait Not always are stories just made of love Sometimes love is not named. But it's love just the same.
