Tao Zhe's title song "Ghost" of the album "Peace and Prosperity", wrote that in today's materialistic world, everyone is surrounded by too many ghosts. "They linger and wait patiently until it gets dark every day. No matter how tired you feel, don't let yourself sleep." In the environment, you may also become a ghost.
Africa is a mysterious and beautiful continent, but a country full of instability and fear. Although I can only rely on a few words and images on the screen for the various conditions in Africa, I still want to write something after watching this film. Probably, even if everyone can't fully understand something, as long as it is touched for a moment, there are words that cannot be ignored.
"Battlefield Wizard" is a film that tells the story by means of flashbacks. The confrontation between the government army and the rebel army, and the rebel army often went to various villages to capture young children and force them to fight in order to have sufficient fighting power. Children are terrified in the beginning, but in the end they are numb to the killing. 12-year-old Komona killed her parents in tears under the command of the commander, and later killed government troops and commanders fearlessly in order to survive. During such killings, people started drinking the magic juice, and Cormona had hallucinations - white ghosts. The dead people became white ghosts, wandering around her. In her opinion, this was a kind of warning and a sense of oppression with nowhere to rest. As such, the Tiger Rebels use her as a field wizard.
In the Tigers' stronghold, Cormona found many incomprehensible antagonisms. The children listened to the magician talking about the power of the tiger, but did not respond to the sound of killing outside. Children cheering while watching American blockbuster fights on TV wrestle on the grass. People are proud of the pursuit of weapons of power. After robbing the weapons of the government army, they specially celebrated that the weapons as trophies were passed over and over people's heads. The cheers masked the sorrow that should have been heard. The Cormona is only used as a tool of war. Wizards, not to pray, but to fight.
Fortunately, the magician is awake. He fled with Cormona, worked hard to find the white rooster that people claimed did not exist, and worked hard to keep the two alive for the sake of Cormona. Africa is a continent full of reverence for gods and rituals, eggs, bones, wings, in the eyes of magicians, eyes and flight in the night. If pain can make people sober, then things in nature are not a blessing to let people fall into excessive madness. Cormona believed in and loved magicians, and gradually stopped seeing ghosts. It's just that their peaceful life didn't last long.
When 14-year-old Komona was brought back into the rebels, she started seeing white ghosts again. Even after killing the commander, she still had nightmares, she started to get confused and tried to face it. She thought it was because her parents were not buried yet. So the story goes back to where it started, going round and round, back to where it started. In the singing of "Rest in peace, Dad" and "Rest in peace, Mom", the white ghost walked away slowly without saying a word.
The people of the African continent are kind, optimistic and helpful. But everyone was fearful and full of pain inside. The rider on the motorcycle and the person who gave the white rooster hope to have the protection of the gods, but the butcher is calm but vomits, when he hugs the magician's corpse and leaves with a blank face. I can even hear those white wandering ghosts cry.
At the end of the film, the newborn baby, a symbol of hope, accompanies the truck to the sun, which symbolizes light. However, as for the white ghosts, they all want to find their roots.
The African continent is in chaos, where people and ghosts coexist.
