At this moment, live in the present

Before Joe received the offer that changed his life, his life was as ordinary as his name, not even a tragic heroic failure. He lives in a dimly lit room in Queens, New York City, eats the same fast food every day, takes the same subway to and from work, and faces middle school students with the same mediocre qualifications as himself. On this day, his colleague excitedly said to him: "Joe, congratulations, you are no longer a contract worker, you are a formal teacher. From then on, you have five insurances and one housing fund, a union, and the most important thing is that no one can fire. You, for a lifetime". The three words fell heavily on Joe's heart like a soldering iron. At that moment, Joe looked a little embarrassed, this was not the destination he wanted.

He always thought that being an orchestra teacher in middle school was just a part-time job, and his real profession was a musician. He imagined the charming melody popped by his fingers, and even the sun and the moon were moved by it. From the moment he came into contact with jazz when he was a teenager, the full meaning of his life has been determined. But since when did life become so boring, exhausted, full of lifelessness, helplessness and compromise. He is not reconciled. He still wants one last fight.

The movie asked me a question: When you die, those short or long periods of your life are displayed in a magnificent memorial hall. What will be inside? Are those high-light moments? Graduating, getting married, buying a house... or events that make you emotionally ups and downs? Lost in love, death of a loved one, layoff... Some people say that life is a journey and the end is death. Then we hurry up and hurry up, busy every day, what is the point?

Perhaps the scenery along the way has already become a kind of collection. Staring at those memorable moments, it is not the eyes but the camera that is passionate about the past. The drizzle and breeze do not stay at the fingertips and mind, but stay in the photos and never be looked at again. We spend a lot of effort to catch up with the next goal. To succeed, we must be ahead of others. It seems that as long as we are faster than others and go farther than others, the capacity of life can be infinitely expanded, and we can live out the experience of several lifetimes. Is it really?

With full expectations for a new life, Joe accidentally stepped into a bare manhole cover on the streets of New York City, and thus came to the chaos between the real world and the pure spiritual world. He should have followed the stairs to heaven and walked towards eternity contentedly, but he didn't want to. He struggled to return to his previous ordinary life. Here, he got acquainted with a little soul, a kid who has read all the sails but has never set foot in this world. In this fictional spiritual world, every baby born corresponds to a little thing with infinite inspiration and curiosity about the world.

This baby is not curious. She is content to observe everything happening on the earth from the other side. She is familiar with history and mankind, and thinks that there is no reason to approach the earth. Joe tried to inspire her with music, just as the souls of countless great men used what they believed in, but found nothing. Her refusal was not fear or rebellion, but a cynicism, and there was nothing in this world that would make her interested anymore.

Joe's first performance was a great success. His life seemed to be about to get rid of the gloom and shine, but he did not feel the shock in his imagination, everything seemed to be the same as his previous life. He asked his companion questioningly: "This is the life I have always wanted, why can't I feel anything?" His companion told a story: A little fish said to a big fish that my dream is the sea. Big fish said, this is the sea. The little fish said questioningly, no, I mean, I want to swim in the sea. Big fish said, this is the sea. The little fish said, but these are just water.

When I was a child, I always wondered why Yiye could not only blindfold the eyes, but also know the autumn. After watching Disney's new movie "soul", I seem to understand a little bit. A blindfolded person is like a person who is busy on the journey of life and forgets why he set off. And Yiye Zhiqiu uses eyes and heart to experience the flowers and trees in life, the little fish swimming in the sea. Focusing on the things in front of us can temporarily free us from the shackles of the real world, but if we are too divorced from reality, won't we become another kind of shackles?

The twenty-two children finally got her own soul enlightenment. It was neither Gandhi nor Einstein that enlightened her, but the way the sun on the earth passed through the layers of the trees and fell on the street, like a breeze. The petals that fell are the warm wind blowing through the subway vents, and the pizzas that cost one dollar on the street. And Joe also realized that life is not about a second-class ticket, headlessly moving toward the goal, but now, now, here, living in the present.
