The background is real and the acting is okay, but after watching it, I don't think I'm watching Hugo's Les Miserables. Hugo does have the limitations of his history, naively thinking that the humanitarian spirit of kindness and love can save and change the world. But it's not that he magnifies his shortcomings so much. The characters in the play have no logic at all. They are completely drama for the sake of drama. After watching the whole film, there is nothing but feeling "well, the French people really suffer". , only full of discomfort and disharmony.
Adaptation, what you really want to change is the ideological value that the original work cannot achieve due to historical limitations, and change it to modern ideas that we recognize and are more scientific and reasonable! Keep the authenticity of the original work, even if you sacrifice authenticity for the drama, please make sure to at least justify it!
