"Summer's Tale" shows the audience director Ai's insights on the relationship between youth and love in a flat and straightforward way. This flat and straightforward way makes the film as concise as a diary, and the difference between it and the diary is that Director Ai's story is exciting enough. Diary-style narration also cannot avoid the problems of complicated stories and difficult relationships to sort out, and Director Ai makes up for these deficiencies through his sensitivity to color.
At the end of the film, the male protagonist solved the troubles he encountered in a way that the audience did not intend - why is it not a relief to give up the existing choices?
