Let's talk about the overall comment first: excellent mediocre work, personal opinion is not as good as the first season. In fact, the quality of the first season is also uneven, but there are works such as "Beyond the Crack" and "Qima Blue" that hold up the whole scene. In the second season, perhaps because the number of sci-fi works I've seen has increased again, the old-fashioned setting made me a little disappointed.
The artificial intelligence in the first episode chases and kills humans, and the previous situation has no foundation. There's nothing funny about trying to satirize automated services and AI customer service. In a sunset-red city with no young people, why did the old man and the old lady suddenly become "heroes"?
The second episode is more like a mashup of a bunch of elements - the setting of transforming human and natural brothers is reminiscent of "The Last Minute", the scene of the ice whale jumping is exactly the same as the "Ancient Fish Recovery" in the first season, the overall style of painting is the same. It is "Qima Blue". Alien colonies, human transformation of these elements is only a fleeting glimpse.
Episodes 3 and 4 want to be combined, after all, the theme is about immortality. It's just that the third episode focuses on the hope of new life, and the fourth episode is the company of two immortal lonely souls. However, due to the lack of background settings in the third episode, I was confused about the transformation of the protagonist. Old-fashioned lines make the last few minutes of the episode feel like a fertility commercial. In the fourth episode, the sudden passion scene made me greasy. Sure enough, it's Hollywood...
Episodes 5 and 6 could also be combined - supernatural elements, and monsters that look like offspring of Alien. An "Alien" has nourished how many monsters. The rendering of the thrilling atmosphere is in place, especially at the end of the sixth episode, the little girl's sentence "what if we are not good children" reveals the darkness of this episode.
The seventh episode is space survival again. Compared with the hero's loneliness and determination in the previous season, the hero in this episode relies on encountering an "artificial mental retardation".
The eighth episode, "The Drowned Giant", has the most comfortable painting style, the narration is full of literary and artistic atmosphere, the unity of human nature and divinity, and the dissolution of human nature on divinity is the best in my personal opinion this season, but...
In fact, if you say that you can taste the profound meaning from each episode, it is not impossible, but there is no need... If you have to talk about metaphysical things, what is not profound...
After a year and a half of waiting, my expectations for the second season were too high, and the gap was too obvious after finishing eight episodes in one go.
If the essence of mystery novels is trickery, then the essence of science fiction novels is the setting, which is one after another what...if... It's a pity that the golden age of science fiction works is gone forever. In the second season, the basic settings are actually not new. The short and concise time limit makes the expression of humanistic meaning in trouble.
Overall rating: five stars for scene and technique, three stars for setting and plot, and three and a half stars for expression and connotation.
Personal opinion, don't spray if you don't like it.
