The misunderstood "live in the present"

The creativity is okay, the story is a little hard, not enough to win people's trust, at least not to me. There is a feeling of rigidly designing such a story in order to tell such a theme that is living in the moment.

I don't know if anyone feels the same. The whole film is too similar to the development route of Xunmeng, but the latter part is not pushed up. As a result, after reading it, I inexplicably felt that I wanted to imitate the dream but failed to imitate it.

The protagonist succeeded in performing a performance, and he immediately became enlightened...the Buddha was not as savvy as he was.

In his heart, he felt like "I have been pursuing for n years, and the feeling of success is nothing more than that! The subway is as crowded every day, and the burgers have not become more delicious! Why did I work so hard before? It's better to take those time to watch the sunset. .." My feeling about this is: This is just a small step and it's floating... Do you really love the piano? You, I can't tell...

In short, the theme of the so-called "live in the moment" in the movie is a bit fake. It sounds like you will be lost when you chase your goal. Cherish every minute of every day and feel the details anytime and anywhere is alive.

But in fact, life itself is not that simple. The person who pursues the goal must be the fish that does not know the sea in front of him? Whoever feels every minute and every second says that it will not be hedonism? The truth it instilled in me, I didn't believe it so much after I got out of the movie theater, because the reality is not like that.

The reality is that even if you achieve a small success, you may still be unable to pay the rent, look down on the disease, and there are tens of millions of things to fight in life. That small success can't represent anything, and there is not so much time to drink chicken soup. If the conditions are in place, would you really not enjoy life as I am? I can leave colorful footprints on the land of China!

Is this theme totally unacceptable? I don’t think so.

Struggle is life, enjoyment is life, pain and happiness are life. To live is a process of constant feeling. As long as you can be sure that you are really walking in accordance with your own heart, instead of being kidnapped by other people’s social values, thinking that you want this and pursuing success in the eyes of others, then I feel that whatever way of life is "living in the present" ". From this point of view, the film is relatively shallow and one-sided.

-------------------------------------------------- ----------

Seeing everyone’s comments~ I feel that the complaints I wrote earlier are relatively strong, and the meaning is not conveyed in place, so I added~

The film is definitely not a bad film. It is not lacking in imagination and creativity, and the production standard is also high. There must be more than 7 points. Playing Samsung is currently over-evaluated, so balance it.

I didn't watch it with the heart of vomiting. In the case of the Beijing epidemic, I went to watch it the first day it was released! You can see my expectations for it.

Then why do I feel that the story is not well told?

1. Script level:

It's not wrong to entertain easily, and it's not wrong to warm people's hearts. But this is by no means a children's animation film, and it should not be judged from the perspective of children's films. Why do I say that it is inferior to "coco", that its character changes are blunt and anticlimactic, and I elaborate on the following point of view:

There are some ingenuity in the whole film. For example, a friend commented, the protagonist went to the cat's body to look at himself from a different perspective, etc., which really pave the way for the later stage. But when it comes to the climax of the movie, it starts to lose power. It is not the characters who are leading the plot, but the plot is pushing the characters away. The transformation of the two protagonists relies on the "initiation" of others, not rooted in their own actions, but the preaching of "initiation" is packaged more beautifully. It was the sentence, the reason, that moved people, not the characters.

22 Awakening is a mechanical surrender, someone else will tell and return the spark to her, and then reincarnate. As a result, the character creation lacks a link of important actions, and becomes thin and light, without layers. (The male protagonist denied her spark, she believed it, and the male lead affirmed the spark she believed again. Whether she can transform depends on others, where did her own power go? In extreme terms, the male mainly lied to her, did she just Lost forever. If she is such a weak character, it doesn’t matter if she is not reborn, because she can’t support the weight given to her by the whole film)

I think it’s better to find sparks in the end that “it can be reproduced even if taken away”, because it comes from the throbbing of the individual soul to life, and it should be generated by 22 itself. This is a more character arc. of.

At the same time, the protagonist's plot combination of "reaping success + returning to the world to continue living + experiencing the beauty of life at the same time" is also very weak. What he depicts is more of a momentary feeling than the action of the protagonist. The male protagonist did not feel too much about his teaching and educating, the teacher-student relationship with the supporting role girl, etc., because his situation has actually changed, and he does not need to return to his past life. Yes, although eating and drinking Lazard are still the same every day, the things that eat and drink Lazard are different. This reduced the credibility of his last understanding. To put it a bit exaggerated, this is a bit like Chen Kaige's "sorrowful and compassionate for the upper class", unable to impress people who are really in trouble. The last leaf is actually for the audience, making the audience feel the "leaf" of their own life. This is also the reason why the film has received a lot of emotional five-point praise.

Writing a play is writing actions, especially the spontaneous actions of the characters at the end. It is the key point of the early stage of the integration of the whole film, and it also represents whether the characters can stand up in the whole film. What it lacks is precisely the final actions of the two protagonists.

Not to mention other roles, the labeled tool man exists to serve the needs of the plot. The state of those great scholars presented in the film is thin and negative. They have removed the brilliance of humanity from them, and collectively labeled them as "senior people who cannot understand ordinary people". After watching them, I feel that these people are like mobs that hinder the 22 upgrade. The viewer will not leave a good impression. But in reality, most of these people are more sympathetic to the weak than ordinary people, and have stronger empathy, perseverance, etc.... The fund manager is labeled "lost". It doesn't count as one who wakes up, but also has to work for everyone. All of his computers are overthrown, and the subtext "Because you are all lost!" It seems that only his reason is right. These details have made me feel some resistance. It feels to demonize the general public according to types, label them, and antagonize them.

The film's creativity is very good and well-made, but these can't conceal its lack of character in character creation.

2. Subject level:

It's not that the theme is positive energy, but I am going to oppose positive energy. But I think that even a slightly clichéd theme like "living in the moment" can be spoken deeply, but this film failed to do so. It only talks about the most superficial level and presents more It is a simple binary opposition (the opposition between "pursuing goals and success" and "feeling the little luck of life", and the misunderstanding and correct meaning of sparks are also placed on these two), and the characters are flattened a lot (especially Yes 22), which disappoints me a bit.

The sentiments it conveys through the protagonist's mouth are beautiful, but they are also very imaginary.

"Living in the present" is not such a simple theme. It is not only about discovering and accepting the good side of life, but also about how you can live with the painful and dark sides. However, this film gives up the discussion.

Yes, you can stop obsessing with the goal you want, stop struggling with money or not, and choose to feel the beautiful details of all aspects of life, but is life only beautiful? When you can't pay the rent in winter and are driven out of a place where you don't live, can you sigh how wonderful the shape of snowflakes is? When you are faced with illness, distress, and death; when you find that no matter how you live life, things are counterproductive; when you find that maybe life is meaningless and all meanings are forcibly attached to yourself, how do you reconcile with yourself? Look at the real "life"?

I even hope to see this film come to the ground, to truly understand and present from the perspective of the weak, then I will naturally be moved as an audience. But the stories I see at the moment are always a bit like a person who has not really experienced pain, and imagined that "I only pursue goals in my whole life, and finally found that it is better to live in the present" story, and put this bowl of fake chicken soup to me. Give me a drink. I think the touch that is caused by this is a kind of self-impression that is superficial. It is the touch that I have convinced myself to believe in this theory without thinking deeply.

A few years ago, I had little experience, and maybe I didn’t think anything was wrong after drinking it. But when I have experienced the protagonist’s thinking at this stage in the course of my life, I found that reality is still an iron-clad reality, there are still endless problems to be solved, and life itself is not so beautiful. These insights are fundamental When I couldn't solve the immediate problem, I learned to treat this bowl of chicken soup dialectically.

For me, life is a neutral word, and it has no background in itself.

The film gave me the same feeling as the universal value that the United States advertised by standing and talking, telling me that the background of life is beautiful and all the feelings of being alive are so happy. Why can't you see it? Why can't you feel it? Just listen to this kind of thing, and put it in your life, you can't take it seriously.

Soul quotes

  • Joe: You ready?

    22: Huh?

    Joe: To come live.

22: ...I'm scared, Joe. I'm not good enough. And anyway, I... I never got my spark.

Joe: Yes, you did. Your spark isn't your purpose. That last box fills in when you're ready to come live. And the thing is, you're pretty great at jazzing.

  • 22: [in Joe's body] Like my mentor George Orwell used to say, State sponsored education is like the rattling of a stick inside a swill bucket.
