This film is indeed a classic. I don't know why the Internet always puts Goodland in a high position and ignores his sister Ursula's love story. I think it's unfair. I think her and Rupert's love story is not fair. The history of love is what strikes my heart, especially the one where Ursula picked a bunch of flowers and gave them to Rupert after their quarrel. Rupert carried it in his breast pocket and drove Ursula back to the paradise where he lived. The next scene rotated 90 degrees, the scene of the two of them in the grass shook my heart, maybe that's what love looks like.
The film uses a wedding to lead the four people to meet. Island frolic, naked gladiator couple drowning, sister's intimacy, young couple's funeral, Gerald's conflict intrusion, four-person vacation, dance party, chat on the stairs, orgy in the snow, Gera De's madness, Gerald's helplessness in the snow.
Many episodes are unforgettable.
All in all good, the passage about figs and so on is fascinating.
Ursula and Rupert's love is what we want to focus on.
