Before fleeing, his friend John told him not to trust anyone. He has always done so.
In order to survive and communicate with people, he learned to smile, from a stiff smile to a really soft and relaxed smile, with a little shyness.
The world of the girl Maria is like heaven to him, but the hospitality of the girl's parents is only out of repayment and courtesy, and does not touch the heart.
The old Swiss lady who gave him real kind love, who lost her son, helped him find his mother.
The sailor on the cargo ship bound for Italy, the baker, the peasant woman who asked him to deliver wine, the young couple whose car needed refueling, all of which made him realize the true expressions of the secular world little by little.
The most surprising thing in the film is that the voice that guides David's escape, the face that has never been seen, turns out to be the non-commissioned officer in the concentration camp, not the older prisoner with him. The memory of that scene appears in the music, there is no dialogue, but the eyes of the characters are in place. The non-commissioned officer reached a tacit understanding after making eye contact with the elderly prisoner. The elderly prisoner quickly snatched the soap from David's hand, and the non-commissioned officer pointed the muzzle at the prisoner... In the darkest and filthiest places, the beautiful flowers of humanity can bloom. But how to judge the good and evil of the non-commissioned officers...
I like the various soundtracks in the film, as well as some small details interspersed from time to time, David and the sailors reunited in Italy, David sat on the ride enjoying the wind and fields, and just When he came ashore from the sea, he was lying on the grass and enjoying the sunshine. These small pieces of beauty were the courage to support him all the way.
If David hadn't started to believe in the goodness of human nature, and hadn't developed a little curiosity about beautiful things, then his journey to Denmark would have been far, far more tortuous, or even impossible.
The film is very beautiful, let me see the power of human nature, the power of belief. I cried at the end.
