When I found out at the end of the story (perhaps using "confirm" to be more accurate) there is nothing mysterious and the reason for everything is that the heroine is very lonely, I am quite disappointed to be honest, even though I see LP's wishes have been 100% satisfied. In all fairness, the 85-minute film can't buy a complex, ingenious and whimsical story, and it doesn't feel too procrastinating.
I still love a few cuts in the film, like the photo of the fading floor extending into the road of the car accident, or the few seconds when everything dies and freezes. I also appreciate that the film tries to create a suspenseful effect, such as deliberately clipping the younger brother's heart palpitations with the flashbacks of the older brother in a coma, as if to imply that there are indeed some supernatural events in it. But in general, the logic of this film is very weak. The only reason why the heroine believes in the nonsense of soul swapping is that she needs someone at this time to continue living with her and escape the reality of the crash with her.
But you can't blame her either. Unless you also believe that in life you will only meet a sweetheart such nonsense. The fact is, as long as she is considerate to her, she is not unable to accept her brother. This film has given up discussing the proposition of "do you love the appearance or the soul". It directly tells a story about whether you can fall in love with two people, and a story about whether you can accept that you fall in love with someone else. So it's really boring. I even prefer the plot that everyone's brains make up. For example, if the souls of brothers are really exchanged, then there are much more possibilities for the story.
So I would say that this is a simple suspense story, and there are even two endings to choose from. And I love Li Pei's fierce little expressions that are secretly angry. At least for me and my kind, it's definitely a film that can't take your eyes off of it.
