Professor Strongart: Predation and Prey: A Fairy Tales for Adults

Recently I saw an animal-themed anime: Beastars (Animal Rhapsody), which seems to be the animal kingdom in fairy tales. In children's fairy tales, most animals can live in peace, but in adult fairy tales, the relationship between predation and prey will gradually become a core issue.

In the Beastars, the predatory instinct of carnivores remains, but is controlled by society as a whole. At the beginning of the plot, there was a case of eating and killing, and an alpaca in the academy was victimized. In such an environment, our protagonist, the big bad wolf, appeared and stretched out his claws on the dwarf rabbit. However, later plots told us that the social ecology here is not so cruel, and it is mainly a harmonious society where carnivores and herbivores coexist. Our big bad wolf has a gentle temperament and gets along well with the paparazzi in the same dormitory.

Since then, the face of the academy has gradually unfolded. The carnivorous and herbivorous groups are divided into two different groups, and their leader is not a powerful carnivore, but a mighty stag. Later plots told us that the bucks used to be slaves, and they were picked up by the president of the same family, and then cultivated as an heir. From this, we can glimpse the leopard and reveal the structure of the entire animal society. The lion as the representative of the carnivorous system symbolizes pure political power, and the herbivorous system represented by the deer symbolizes the power of the economy. Due to the emergence of hot weapons, the natural military advantage of the meat-eating system has been greatly weakened, and the economy has controlled power to a certain extent, forcing the lion to have a mild appearance. This is the so-called warm veil of capitalism.

In order for carnivores and herbivores to coexist, it is necessary to prohibit carnivores from killing small animals. So what do carnivores eat? The meal replacements provided by the canteen can meet the basic nutrition of meat-eating systems. At least we know that there are eggs in the meal replacements, which are provided by the hens, and they are even proud of the popularity of their eggs. It reminds us of George Orwell's Animal Farm, in which the brainwashed hens also take pride in their devotion. Of course, there are also carnivores who have difficulty suppressing their thirst for flesh and blood. They all go to the black market to satisfy their desires. Tigers once bought back a small bottle of animal blood in the black market, and there are also old beggars in the black market who clearly marked the price with their fingers.

In the end, the lion group in the black market captured the dwarf rabbit and prepared to eat it as food. Our wolf boy and panda uncle defeated the lion group like a bug. As the hero and heroine, the wolf and the rabbit are about to combine, but they find that the physiological impulses between men and women are not worth mentioning in the face of the predatory instinct.
