From a criminological point of view, three processes lead to violence: empowerment, routineization, and loss of humanity.
In this film, the authoritative figure of the father creates a degenerate, morally immoral family environment. Every family member is forced to live in such an environment, and gradually becomes a slave. It is not that they cannot resist, but that they have no idea of resisting. They have long been puppets and have lost the ability and courage to think freely.
It may be difficult for people in normal lives to imagine how someone could be persecuted all the time without resisting. However, I have become accustomed to distorted moral ethics and humiliating treatment. Such a mindset easily wipes out some of the qualities that human beings should have, such as natural freedom, equality of life, and so on.
As a non-professional, I just watched a movie like this, and I won't analyze this movie from various angles. I just feel depressed after watching it, because of such incomplete humanity.
The dull atmosphere permeates the whole film, many scenes highlight the actors' acting skills, and the prominent social issues in the film hit me hard. The grandmother who was used to being indifferent, the eldest daughter who was rebellious and submissive, the younger daughter who was rebellious but could not resist, the granddaughter who committed suicide in despair, the grandson who was ignorant and ignorant, and even the grandfather who was perverted and twisted did not give me the deepest impression.
The little white-skirted daughter who shivered in the dark and called "Mom" just suffered the most terrifying night of her life. She was physically traumatized, but she probably didn't know what happened to her. She just opened her innocent eyes, hoping that her mother could give her an explanation and tell her that it was just a nightmare, and the sun will still rise tomorrow.
But the hand of fate dragged her to the abyss of depravity, and she became a silent tormented person.
At the end of the film, the patriarchy collapses, but there is no dawn of hope. After the door is closed, can this twisted home return to normal?
Reality and life are always cruel, but such a bloody extreme case of peeling off the coat and revealing disgusting is still unacceptable.
I hope it can be like the blood stains at the beginning of the film, seeping into the crevices of the rocks. After years of existence, even if countless dark vines are derived, they will gradually disappear in time.
