As a 1946 film, "War" is still highly regarded by many directors today. 3. A prostitute hooked up with a drunk American soldier on the street. As the two lay in bed, the soldier told a story: He entered Rome with the army in a tank half a year ago and was warmly welcomed. One of the beautiful women welcomed him into her home to give him water and wash his face. The two fell in love with each other for a short time, but the soldiers had to go to the front so they separated. Now the soldier is back in Rome, but the girl has not been found, so he is in a low mood and uses wine to drown his sorrows. After the soldier fell asleep, the prostitute left an address to the landlord and asked the landlord to hand it over to the soldier the next day. The next day the prostitute changed into her normal attire and waited at the appointed place, but the soldier did not appear. 5. An American priest and two American soldiers were sleeping in an Italian Catholic church. Food-starved Catholic priests warmly entertained three American guests. The Americans also brought canned food to the priests. One of the Catholic priests found out during prayer that two American servicemen were Jewish and Protestant. So Catholic priests tried to convert Jews and Protestants to Catholicism, but were rejected. The priests did not pursue it any further. During the dinner, the American priest expressed his gratitude to the Italian Catholic priests for their tolerance.
6. A large number of dead British Allied troops floated on the rivers of the Italian countryside. The U.S. military continued to salvage the bodies ashore and bury them. In the countryside where food is scarce, the US military decided to use planes to drop food to soldiers at night. But it was discovered by the Germans when a flare was fired.
