"Initial D", I didn't have much expectations for this film at first. From a mental point of view, although I don't blindly arrange Japan, I still have little interest in some things in Japanese culture. And this film is starring Jay Chou. I am from the late 1970s, and Jay Chou is the object of the children of the 80s. I don't have that deep affection for Jay Chou. Recently, China Mobile bundled Jay Chou's concert with MZONE's publicity, and it has gained a lot. It is indeed a good move in marketing.
I still watched this film. The directors Mak Zhaohui and Liu Weiqiang are excellent Hong Kong directors, and the film "Infernal Affairs" came from their hands. From this point, it gave me a lot of interest in watching movies.
I've never read the original manga. I think the content is the main theme of rebellion and impulse, youth and emotion. But it did later prove, as Watch Movie magazine put it, a "simplistic youth movie." To be honest, it still gave me some surprises.
This competitive story about racing is actually a youth inspirational film in a sense. The night on Qiu Ming Mountain, the winding road, the AE86 galloping like the wind, the tofu shop in Fujiwara, the gas station on the road
... The lens has the feeling of some French movie "Car God", but it has a kind of beauty in oriental photography techniques.
Jay Chou's Takumi is a shy image, which gave me the most direct impression of the characters in the film. Maybe it has something to do with my personality. Superman and Spider-Man in the movie... are all shy and even embarrassed in reality. Tuohai's family gave him a lot of distress, but his father was the real car god in the past. The film has never explained why Takukai's father was drinking and why he stayed away from the arena. I don't know if there is an explanation in the original comics, but I guess it may be related to the death of Takuhai's mother.
Motegi Natsuki, played by Japanese actor Suzuki Kyo, is Takukai's deep love, and he even gave him a lot of encouragement. To be honest, I don't think she is that pretty. But Motegi Natsuki is an aid girl. Towards the end of the film, Tuohai witnessed all this and ran sadly, but Xia Shu didn't catch up and fell to the side. The music sounded along with Tuohai's running... Some girls were said to cry while watching this. Mak Zhaohui also said in an interview with reporters that this is how the comics look. He originally wanted to change the character of this Xia Shu, but the original comics The author disagrees.
In fact, it's okay to give you some disappointment. Although, I don't think I was touched by this shot. But someone can be touched, at least it's a good thing. Life is like that, if you make mistakes, you may not be able to re-consummate. I thought this was really an indifferent scene and episode, but after thinking about it, I thought it was a good move. Youth, always have some bitterness. Some consequences can only be borne by oneself.
The ending of the film is abrupt and the content is always simple, but the stunts, sound effects of the racing cars, some scenes of the film, and even the performances of characters such as Huang Qiusheng are outstanding. Still worth watching. Plus, after all, Initial D is youthful.
