The original 1930 film was too classic and shocking to expect the remake to surpass it. However, the narrative of this version is obviously very sincere. It can be said that it is very different from the original style. The story is told more delicately and patiently. There are many plot branches that were not there before. The performance of the actors is good, except that the war scenes become It's colored, and the rest is almost no improvement from 49 years ago... The slightly changed ending at the end is not as shocking as the original, but it still touches people's hearts.
