She never knew Wayne, she never knew the man who had been looking for her for thirty-five years, but she helped him find his way home.
1. Circle
In a class at the University of Arkansas, Emilia softly recites Delmore Schwartz's poem "Calmly We Walk Through This April's Day."
Everything that was decadent in the old Westfinger community kept flashing.
The verse and the picture form intertextuality, the meaning of which is the repeated "time is the school for our (human) growth".
Wayne walks through the campus of youth, holding a pear in his hand, as if holding his love for Emilia.
After leaving the Purcell case, Emilia returned to coaching, and Wayne followed her as the campus security director.
Wayne excitedly walked up to the teaching building, waited at the door of the classroom, and smiled at Emilia.
Bring a piece of fruit for her and wait for her to leave the get out of class. This is the new student they started after the Purcell case was forced to end.
This situation echoes the situation when the two first met. One is the starting point and one is the ending point.
2. Revolving door
The cold and fierce battle that Hoyt mentioned was the Battle of Changjin Lake. The biggest enemy of both China and the United States was not the other, but nature.
They are all veterans, and they all love their families deeply. Creating an intentional overlap between the "villain" and the protagonist will make people put aside their prejudice and think peacefully:
In the matter of good and evil, the most difficult thing to deal with is not to uphold good, not to get rid of evil, but the intersection of good and evil.
Evil from good, good from evil.
All accidental, all inevitable.
The conversation in Lin Zhong was a common compromise, and the basis of the compromise was "family".
3. Games
On the walls of the pink room are painted castles in which three figures live: Queen Isabel, Princess Mary, and Sir Junius, who protects them.
The castle and the crown appear in Julie's paintings, the Blindfolded Sir appears in the park's toys, and the princess and queen appear in Shelly's testimony.
4. Love
After two cases in 1980 and 1990, Wayne twice sacrificed himself for his love and family, gave up his future, and gave up the truth.
Roland ran to the bar, found the person he thought was the most trashy, and fought a battle for the hatred in his heart and the person he missed.
Both Wayne and Roland were carrying heavy loads.
Wayne's wise Emilia enlightens him and points out a clear path. The story after the two is the opening scene of this episode.
And Roland got a dirty stray dog. He later lived alone, with dogs. What kind of emotion does this relationship hold in his heart? Do you still need to break it? The reason why Lori disappeared is also hidden in it.
5. Crime and Punishment
The car parked outside Junius Watts's house is the car that frequently appears outside Wayne's house.
Watts' left eye blindness stemmed from an accident on a chicken factory assembly line, and Hoyt later turned him on as a housekeeper.
Isabelle and her husband had a daughter, Mary, who died in a car accident. This led to Isabelle's nervous breakdown, and she was started on lithium therapy.
A heartbroken Hoyt also traveled far from home.
Isabel, who is insane, gets into a traffic accident while driving at night, and Patrol Harris gets her out of trouble.
A staff family picnic is held at Hoyt Manor, and Isabel sees Julie through the window and sees her ever since as Mary's replacement.
Junius convinces Lucy to accept the payment to let Julie go to the park to play with Isabel, and to be safe, Lucy asks Will to accompany him there (that's why Lucy grieves Will's death so much).
Julie made Isabel seem to return to her previous appearance. Junius saw it and planned to ask Tom to let Isabel adopt Julie.
It is at this juncture that disaster strikes. Isabelle secretly gave herself off the drug, and she never healed, she saw Julie as Mary.
Her possessiveness made her make a move to snatch Julie, Will stepped forward to stop it, was overthrown by Isabel, accidentally hit a stone edge, and died of blood loss.
For the sake of Isabel and Hoyt, Junius contacted the profit-seeking Harris, forged evidence, sealed Lucy, and concealed the truth.
Hoyt was in Africa at the time and had nothing to do with the case.
After Julie was taken to Hoyt Manor, Isabel put the lithium she was supposed to take into Julie's juice, and day after day, her intelligence and memory went wrong.
As Julie grew up, she couldn't stay in her room forever, and she became more and more confused and more and more eager to be free. Junius couldn't bear it and helped her escape.
When Isabel lost Julie, she lost the backbone of her life, took all the pills, and committed suicide.
Later, the guilty Junius also embarked on the long road to find Julie. In 1997 he found an asylum in Fort Smith, only to learn that Julie was dead.
Later, Junius began to show up frequently outside Wayne's house, but he was never able to muster the courage to confess it all.
The arrival of Wayne made him finally relieved and willing to die.
However, the old Wayne has not done God's work, and Junius' sins should be left to God to judge.
Six, together
Is the answer already certain? Wayne could not be persuaded.
He picked up Emilia's book and found one of the clues about Mike.
Emilia reappeared in his hallucinations and gave another answer.
In this way of soul mingling, Wayne and Emilia reached the end of the labyrinth together.
Wayne was about to walk out of the labyrinth, but fell into a dark memory trap at the last step. He forgot the purpose of his departure and only felt helpless.
However, in such a brief moment, he met and talked with the middle-aged Julie. Julie asks her daughter Lucy to give Wayne a glass of water and help Wayne out of his loss.
Wayne has always been looking for Julie, but in the end, it was Julie who helped Wayne find his family.
Two people who have lost their normal memory can no longer meet (Julie's amnesia is the best ending for her), in fact, this is the only time they meet in their lives. But Julie changed Wayne's life forever.
But God, I finally arrived, though I didn't know it.
When relatives return, old friends gather, and children and grandchildren are full.
The scene of the little grandson and little granddaughter riding a bicycle brings him back to the beginning of the story.
Remember? in the twilight of your life.
Young Wayne and Emilia bathed in the Holy Light and walked into the gate of heaven hand in hand.
The lonely tough guy on the battlefield glanced back at you and me, and went into the rainforest alone, and everything was calm.
