I watched it for Amber's beauty, but I have to say that in addition to the beauty's costume show, this movie still has some remarkable points.
The most gorgeous set, the most stylish skin, the mystery of "predicting death", cult and suspense elements are undoubtedly the combination that can evoke the most desire. The protagonist's identity as a writer makes him appear to be an outside observer, who mixes imagination and fact to write novels. In fact, he was in the game from the very beginning, and was a crucial pawn. By the way, it can be seen that the director is trying to create an atmosphere where reality and fantasy are intertwined, but it is not successful. In addition to the occasional surreal pictures (such as the heroine who rewinds as the writer deletes the text), he tries hard to remind the audience that "the writer is writing a novel based on the listening content and his own imagination!", they are a bunch of strange people. (For example, the same scar-faced Depp in "Edward Scissorhands"). The reality and fantasy in the movie are clearly separated, and they interfere with each other from time to time, making people wonder whether it is true or false here, or whether it is a random addition by the director.
In terms of character settings, both writers, the male protagonist (let's call it that) and the best-selling writer are mirrors of each other. A romantic and rational, full of the imagination and curiosity of a novelist; a utilitarian and ruthless, who regards writing as a means of chasing fame and fortune. One is an artist and the other is a businessman. The simplicity and fantasy of the male protagonist are beneficial to art, but they have also become his weakness and have been exploited by best-selling writers. In the movie, the bridges related to the male protagonist are beautiful and artistic; it can be said that the male protagonist holds up the symbolic level of the whole movie. And every time a best-selling author comes along, we slump back to the ground, back to a brutal, calculating reality. This is how this pair of writers serve the film's system of symbolism and reality.
"London Battlefield" is definitely a nosebleed visual feast, the Rococo style and the apocalyptic wasteland of dilapidated London complement each other, and Amber's beauty adds a lot to it. Perhaps the greatest value of this film is that it has contributed to Amber's many famous scenes that are full of tension, and has successfully created an image of a stunner that seduces all beings.
