Love doesn't conquer everything here, but the prostitute thus becomes the most noble and pure character in the whole play. A perfect blend of sympathy and irony, idealism and realism at the end.
Optimistic and helpless Naples, flashy and empty Milan, romantic and realistic Rome, this is probably the Italy in Desica's eyes.
