First Wellness Day of 2021
I was watching the drama Gloria (Silver Bear at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival 2013) while reviewing my Value Framework Coaching course.
Gloria hummed to the rhythm of the speakers while driving, boldly breaking the pitch and out of tune; I freely switched between lessons and movie clips, and I dared to go naked without any preparation. Test. As a result, I did 14 multiple-choice questions back and forth for 2 hours until the end of the movie.
When we reach middle age, we are all Gloria, and some of us have the courage to fail and the courage to keep trying.
a lonely dance
At the beginning of the film, as the camera progresses, on the crowded dance floor, we find Gloria standing in the corner. She has glaucoma, so she has to wear large, thick glasses. On the dance floor, she can always attract the attention of men with her smile. She likes to indulge in dancing to music and enjoy the beauty and passion in dancing.
"Are you always so happy?"
"no"
Gloria (Gloria) is a 58-year-old woman who has been divorced for 10 years. Her youth has left her. In her monotonous and boring life, a cat who occasionally breaks in accidentally, and the owner of the cat, who lives upstairs. Crazy" became the only waves in her life. A life of stagnant water, a woman who is looking for hope in the emptiness, she is Gloria Gloria who meets the challenge with a smile.
Gloria's life, on the surface, is as mature and bright as she looks, with a sense of stability unique to the middle class, but in fact she lives in a rented apartment. Loneliness and loneliness are the truth of Gloria's life.
lonely beginning lonely ending
The film fits the theme of loneliness quite well in a bland narrative and fragmented editing. The film focuses on a middle-aged woman named Gloria, her connection with her children, her desire for love, her perception of life, and her self-reflection. This 58-year-old woman is 16 when she is under the camera. years old, sometimes 60 years old. However, she couldn't hide her longing and hunger for love. Age is no longer her label here. Lack of love is her biggest trouble.
That's why she was hit by Rudolph who took the initiative to attack on the dance floor. That's why she had illusions about Rudolph's unreasonable departure. That's why she was moved to tears when she listened to Rudolph's softly recited lines. full face.
Rudolph was the spark and life-saving straw in her life. She thought she had started a new life and started a new love like a 16-year-old boy and a girl. They dated, participated in shooting games, and bungee jumped together. However, the good times didn't last long, and Rudolph's repeated farewells finally made her understand that this was not her true love, but an illusory wishful thinking.
Life has dug a hole in her heart.
She didn't know how to fill it.
When Gloria saw the dancing skeletons on the street, she stopped, the skeletons were dancing, a dynamic skeleton, without flesh and blood, no matter how beautiful the movements would become so sad and funny, the little skeleton prayed to passers-by The humble gesture of the bounty seemed to touch Gloria's heart. When she squatted down and dropped the bounty, she suddenly had an awakening that it is better to care for herself than to pray for the care of others. The hole in your heart can only be filled by yourself.
Gloria chose a dramatic way to end her relationship with Rudolph. She shot Rudolph with a paintball gun. That's the game they played together on their first date. Rudolph said that men like war games. And in the end a woman ends their past in a way that a man likes. It not only announced the end of the relationship between the two, but also her declaration of not true love. When we saw this, we also laughed heartily with Gloria in the car on the way back.
At the end of the film, it's back on the dance floor. Gloria, who was sitting outside the dance floor, saw a white peacock blooming alone in the corner of the dark night. At this time, the passionate song "Gloria" floated along with the breeze, Gloria. Ya rolled up her dress, refused the man's invitation for the first time, jumped onto the dance floor again, and danced alone.
In that hopeful ending of the film, Gloria sings her own song and traverses the dance floor again, but this time with more confidence, Gloria overcomes loneliness and life with her smile The heavy pressure, from now on, she has to live a life that truly belongs to her. You can't find true love, at least you can love yourself.
love yourself more than many people love you
Sebastian's movie style is extremely natural, like a movie that is not a movie, without too much beautification and twists and turns in the plot, just a real restoration, using a group of clips to connect the lifelike image of Gloria, a woman.
In these fragmented scenes, you forget that this is watching a movie, which is clearly a mirror image of everyone around us.
The characters on the screen are the projections of you and me in reality, and the days of the characters are the lives of you and me.
The neighbors upstairs are quarreling every day, and the passers-by who greet the passing passers-by have a seemingly calm appearance, but they are actually another kind of repressed cold violence, either indifferent or noisy. How many really like dancing, just want to get rid of loneliness to pass the time.
The world of middle-aged people is a piece of chicken feathers. The difference is that some people can make chicken feathers fly. Some can only sink in the feathers of the ground all the time.
Modern people are afraid of loneliness, and always try their best to live for others. But back to the night when everything was quiet, I knew it was cold and warm, where I came from and where I went back in the end.
When Gloria fell into an emotional entanglement with Rudolph, she completely lost herself, and after countless disappointments, it was only when she finally shot Rudolph with a paintball gun that she regained her true freedom and was able to regain her Start again with confidence.
It is never time that truly heals oneself, but the real relief and understanding in the heart: loving yourself is stronger than loving you by many people.
Feel the same.
