The rhythm of French films, the plot unfolds slowly. In the beginning, a couple filed for divorce. The husband resigned and came to the city where his wife and children lived. The son expressed his disgust for his father in writing.
The plot unfolds gradually. The father insists on being with his son every weekend. Even though his son is sick and reluctant, he has to follow his father to his grandparents' house. The relationship between the grandparents and the father makes people understand the environment in which the father grew up. He has no respect, arrogance, does not know how to respect others, and quarrels and violence are commonplace. The son wanted to attend his sister's 18-year-old party and wanted to adjust the next meeting time, but his father seemed to have not heard his words. The son kept lying to his father, and the father would be strict with the child's every move and behavior, without warmth. The son lied so that the mother would not be beaten, and the family avoided the father for this reason. The father promised to let his son attend his sister's party, and the son took his father to the house of the three. When the father saw his mother crying, he looked like a prodigal son who had come to his senses. But his true nature was revealed in the accusation of his wife by the opposite sex at the daughter's party. At the end of the movie, the father knocked on the door in the middle of the night to threaten or even shoot, the child was so frightened that he was deaf, and the mother and son hid in the bathroom and waited for the police to come.
The movie is an ordinary domestic violence story, but the technique used in the movie is impressive and light weight. The plot of terror and violence unfolds in understatement, slowly advancing layer by layer. Maybe it's the way of mature movies.
