I have been looking forward to the live-action version of Mulan, because Mulan is the only Disney princess movie in my DVD collection box, and it can be said to have accompanied my childhood. Recently, it is very uncomfortable to watch the live version. This big ip has excellent cases like the previous textbooks to learn from, but it is the same as chewing wax, and it is difficult to swallow. I don’t even want to give it a score. It’s a waste to lie on the watch list. In exchange for the good memory of Mulan in childhood fairy tales, I revisited the animation again. As a work 20 years ago, the animated version of Mulan can still stand the test of time.
The original animation is a typical American dream-catching story, which is somewhat different from the interpretation of Mulan's words, and adds a more distinct awakening of personal consciousness. Although it is Disney's Tso Zongtang chicken, it is a feast of Taoism. The animated version of Mulan is a very agile and ordinary girl next door, waiting in her boudoir. She has a sloppy personality and even a little naive. She didn't know what she wanted, but she didn't know what she wanted to liberate her nature. She actually tried her best when her parents confessed her female virtues, but she didn't do a good job at all and started to have self-doubt. Her father comforted and said, "Look, although there is a flower on the tree that blooms late, I believe it is the most beautiful flower when it blooms."
Joining the army for her father was an opportunity for her to embark on the path of finding her true self in that rainy night. From the beginning of failing to keep up with physical fitness and skills, to not giving up on getting respect through perseverance, she finally said that it is not for her father but for herself. This is why many people at home and abroad like the role of Mulan, because you will feel that she is an ordinary girl from anxiety and confusion to self-demanding. In contrast, the live-action version of Mulan has a dark face from beginning to end, and the opening talent is full of talent. I really can't feel the innocent, lively and savage growth that belongs to the Mulan girl's character.
"Who is the girl I saw" in the lyrics of "reflection" actually means that she actually feels that she has a heart that is uneasy for everyone. And the live-action version expresses this true self as she is actually a super-powered person with a lot of internal power, which is really ridiculous.
The original military camp story is also witty and humorous. From first entering the military camp, seeing men’s nausea and dislike each other, to not fighting and not knowing each other, growing up from waste wood together, and finally being born into death and suffering. Each warrior is different in height, short, fat and thin, and has a character that is fresh and active, and you will remember each one.
The editing of the animated version is even better. Why the animated version of Mulan always makes people cry suddenly, probably because the emotion is infinitely close to reality, and the progressive music pushes this emotion to a climax. In front of the ancestral hall, I questioned myself against the spirits of the ancestors; in the rainy night, he waved his sword and cut his hair and changed into a uniform; in the middle of the night, he tried to rush to the pole, and when the dawn came, sitting on the top still smiled like a girl; There was also the last second of the soldiers singing in the snow, looking forward to returning to their hometown. The next second came to an abrupt end to the ruins of the village.
Not to mention the countless creative ideas that made this story even more refreshing, such as Mushu crickets, the ancestors of the ancestral hall, and the magical pen of the decisive battle-the fan, and so on. Although this Disney version of the story has nothing to do with the correct history of China, I deeply feel that the animated version wants to make a good intention. The live-action version castrated these ideas, but claimed to have invested 200 million yuan. The live-action stories of "Beauty and the Beast", "Cinderella", and "Aladdin" are not evaluated. You can smell full of money and sincerity from the setting, clothing, and CG. And these three points of Mulan have been saved, even the money for singing and dancing episodes. Maybe Disney didn't want to pay attention to this ip at all, or maybe the director's level is really limited. As for Liu Yifei, although she contributed to a performance that is as soulless as the movie, she is really not bad this time.
