meet in good times

The soldier who is about to go to the front line meets a girl who loves to sing in the cafe. Eddie, who doesn't know if he will die on the battlefield tomorrow, treats the last night before departure as a hunting night to pick up girls and indulge in carnivals. Ross, full of novelty, wants to break free from the constraints of traditional family life and his mother's teaching, and is eager to try. So, when the truth came out, the date went terribly bad and broke up. Rose is not an outstanding girl, she is mediocre, and even when Eddie asks the bar owner about Rose at the end of the credits, she uses the word "chubby" to describe her. But she's an unforgettable girl, sincere and kind, and that's what moved Eddie to the idea of saying "sorry" one last time. In the film, Eddie uses sausages to lure the Ross family's dog away and climb the roof with difficulty, just to stick the apology on Ross's window, which is really cute. It was a fun and romantic night. The two argued loudly on the street over Eddie's swear words, went into a high-end restaurant and lied in a suit shop for the sake of fairness, and only ordered a dinner and drank beer on an empty stomach because of the money. .....The plot is full but like running clouds and flowing water, making people feel the love slowly developed between the two young people like a spring breeze.

Sadly, Eddie went to the battlefield the next day and ripped up the address Ross gave him on the bus. Maybe he really can't write letters, maybe he'll come back to her soon, maybe it's not worth worrying about, maybe, who knows ~ a twenty-year-old boy, anything can happen.

Although most of the literary films will have a miserable and unclear ending, but fortunately the cafes and the girls in the cafes are still there, and the audience still has room for imagination. A tight hug really comforted me.

  • [repeated line]

    Eddie Birdlace: Out-fucking-standing!

    Oakie: Out-fucking-standing!

    Berzin: Out-fucking-standing!

    Benjamin: Out-fucking-standing!

  • Berzin: Let me tell you something about bullshit. It's everywhere. You hit me with a little, I buy it. I hit you with a little, you buy it. It doesn't make us idiots. That's what makes us buddies. We buy what the corps hand out, and that's what makes us marines. And the corps buy all the bullshit from president kennedy, and president kennedy is buying all the bullshit from everybody in the US of the fucking A, and that's what makes us Americans.
