Married Life movie review

This is the fourth installment in the Truffaut Antoine series. Although Antoine is married to Christine, he is still so naive, selfish, and going his own way. So I still got nothing at work, I studied dyeing flowers, and finally gave up halfway and had to look for a job.

The most successful part of the headquarters is Truffaut's successful portrayal of the trivial and warm daily life after Antoine and Christine got married, as well as the process of the two quarreling with each other after the emergence of the third party to the final break and reconciliation. The process is very real. Filled with immersion.

Antoine's derailment has long been foreshadowed. In the dialogue with the worker who repaired the TV, he said: I fell in love with more than this girl, I fell in love with her entire family, but unfortunately her parents are not mine. It shows that Antoine chooses to be with Christine more because he wants the feeling of a home, and Christine's family treats him very well and can just satisfy his desire. He still pursues passion, and Christine can't give him that passion. So when Xingzi appeared, the strong exotic atmosphere instantly attracted him. It took so long because Antoine had been living in that small community, and he lacked access to women who would trigger his passions.

So the two separated, but they still loved each other, so when the two of them had memories with their neighbors, it was so beautiful and sweet. And Christine loves him even more, wanting to stay with him when he's down, and even encouraging him to pursue Kyoko. When the taxi was about to leave, Antoine said to Christine: You are really my sister, my daughter, my mother. It shows that his love for her has evolved into a family relationship, and it also shows that he is more dependent on Christine as a family member. So when he found that he couldn't get along with Kyoko, he would call Christine for help.

The separation from Kyoko is also reasonable. Huge cultural differences will bring great mystery and attraction, as well as mutual incompatibility. Therefore, the Japanese-style dining and sitting posture made him at a loss, that is, he was used to sushi and learned to use chopsticks. Because he couldn't cross his legs, he had nowhere to put his feet. The Japanese were unsmiling and could not satisfy his romance as a French, so the two soon became silent in disguise. In the end, Xingzi disappeared, leaving only a sentence of good gathering and good dispersal.

In the end, the two reunited and met a neighbor couple on the stairs. The wife said: The two of them really fell in love, and the husband showed three expressions one after another. The first is disbelief, the second is skeptical of his wife's words, and the third is wondering why they got back together. This is actually the psychological expression of the audience at the time: the two of them really got back together, are they really in love with each other? Why can they get back together?

This part of the theme is growth, and Antoine began to grow in every way. At work, instead of doing those whimsical experiments, I started a period of work down-to-earth, and I was not fired for being irresponsible. At the same time, he also started writing, in order to pave the way to become a writer in the future. Emotionally, because of this derailment, his love with Christine is also more mature.

The film has a lot of easter eggs, which represent the connection with the previous part. The first is that the two secretly kiss again in the wine cellar, but it is not interrupted by Christine's shyness like the previous one, which shows that the relationship between the two is sweet and stable.

The second is the appearance of the TV repair worker played by the actor who played Antoine's boss in the previous film, and Jacob, who met Antoine. Among them, Jacob also borrowed 100 yuan from Antoine one after another. In the end, Jacob chose to pretend not to know him to avoid him borrowing money from himself. It can be said that it is another kind of growth for him.

  • Antoine Doinel: Bored? I don't know what boredom is. I've heard people talk about it but I don't know what it is. There's always something to do: cut the pages of a book, do crossword puzzles, take notes. I wish there were 30 hours in a day cause I never get bored. I can't wait to get old so I can get by on five hours sleep. Why am I even discussing this? I'm going to the bathroom.
