After watching the old film "Song of Opportunity", although it is not absolutely old, it is at least a film from the late 1980s. This movie is an absolute classic by the Polish master Kislowski. It is very strange. I have downloaded it for a long time, and only today did I really have the heart to watch it. The whole film is a bit boring, it looks a bit chaotic, the montage-style connection, the inexplicable dialogue, and I don't know why after reading it. Perhaps because of the translation factor, it is impossible to fully understand the lines and subtexts of many characters in the play, but at least I can understand this ancestor movie that has influenced many later movies. Both "Sliding Door" and "Lola Run" were born out of it, and pay homage to it.
Blind Chance is translated into Chinese as "Song of Opportunity", which is a three-part story about chance. The story takes place in Eastern Europe before the drastic changes in Eastern Europe, with strong political overtones. The film shows the different lives experienced by the protagonist Witke in the face of the contingency of life. In an accidental train ride, three different results let us see three different lives brought about by chance. 1. He caught the train and met a Communist Party member on the train. He joined the political party and started his political career. 2. He failed to catch the train and had a conflict with the platform police. He was sentenced to one month in prison, and he became acquainted with anti-Party elements and started an anti-Party career. 3. He didn't catch the train, everything was plain, but he met his former female classmate, and the two got married and had children, and lived a life without faith, seemingly plain but depressing.
As Witke, struggling to catch up with the train, galloped, fate brought three different tributaries. I don't know if the only remaining result is the optimal result after excluding any other two possibilities, but at least we have seen that he is seriously living under each result. The scene of chasing the train is the same, and every time he runs to the train station, the viewer knows that the next possibility is coming. In this ever-changing world full of countless possibilities, God knows how many such possibilities exist. The first shot of the film is actually connected to the last shot. Only after watching the end can you understand why the first act is so arranged. The tone of the whole film is very indifferent, just like the childhood memories of the protagonist at the beginning: the pictures in his childhood, the monologue and death of his father, the departure of his little friend---"I will come back to see you!" The voice is distant and helpless .
The contingency of life is wonderful. It seems accidental, but it seems to be fate. I often think about a lot of what-ifs in the dark before bed. If I had been learning to dance when I was a child, if I had taken a few extra points in the exam, if I had sat in a different seat, if there was no greeting, if I met another group of friends, if I ignored the psychological test of strangers at that time, if that If I choose another way, if I deal with the people around me in another way, if I listen to some people, if I didn't do it at the time, if, if, if...
always thinking , If I can know how good the results of various accidents are, if I know it, I can avoid a lot of harm, take a lot of detours, meet more like-minded friends, and live a more exciting and smooth life. However, God has not given any of us the superpowers of prophets. It is precisely because we don't know the trivial events big and small that can change the direction of our life, the possibility of life, that we have created some unspeakable surprises. If we had known the arrangement of fate, it would be like a living person. I have already seen my own grave. Desolate and lifeless.
About the accident of life, I want to express a lot, but the simple words are so powerless, how can I describe the price and wonderfulness behind these accidents?
In every tributary of life, enjoy every chance...
