In my opinion, this film has strong similarities with the old film "Human Bone Puzzle". The murderers are all in the so-called works of art, hiding the omen of the next murder. But this film is just a realistic film with the characters (protagonists) with a thriller link, not a narrative. If you look at it as a suspense film like "Human Bone Puzzle", it will inevitably appear unclear logic, not enough lining, the characters are not closely related, and the ending is too dark.
The whole film is actually a description of the tragedy of the incompetent police detective stan. To put it bluntly, it is a one-man show. As for the distorted paintings, they are all props used to reflect this police detective's incompetence but extreme narcissism.
1. Stan's lame
1. Five years ago, Stan was fully capable of preventing the girl from being murdered, but he neither informed the girl in time nor protected her, which eventually resulted in the murder of the girl, and stan felt guilty all year round. And he became the laughing stock of the police. Once stan was sitting in the office, he saw his colleagues in the suite looking at him and laughing. (Obviously the leader mentioned Cai Cai's stan in the meeting)
2. The couple reported the case. When stan went out to investigate the scene, the police outside chatted and laughed. "The case is very serious, even stan" came.
3. Stan found someone was following, not only did he not actively face it, but he fantasized about a sneak attack, but he did not catch up with the other party. In fact, when the suspect jumped and fell, Stan could shoot the suspect to stop him from escaping.
4. Stan's house was visited by the suspect. As a police detective, Stan did not look for clues, but asked his neighbors to ask. If it fails, it's over. Because he called the police for this, he would be ridiculed more.
2. Stan's withdrawal and mental disorder
1. A colleague said: 5 years, I don't even know where your home is. Are you married?
2. Colleagues hold a party, no one pays attention to stan, and stan does not talk to other colleagues and leaves early.
3. Buying things, repeatedly placing chairs, folding paper towels and other details prove that he has obsessive-compulsive disorder.
4. Regular use of drugs.
3. The tragedy of stan
1. Poor work ability
2. Mental unhealthy, long-term depression, fetishes, obsessive-compulsive disorder
3, withdrawn, not social
4, death
The death of stan is actually avoidable. Five years ago, if he had informed the girl in time, he would have saved her life; five years later, when stan determined the murderer's address, if he could go to the police station and be arrested by everyone, not only would he not die, but he would actually make a contribution. But stan decided to act alone, I think there are two reasons: first, because of stan's consistent incompetence, it is difficult for the bureau to convince him of his judgment, and he may be ridiculed; The former is a person, he must be responsible for his own mistakes in the past, and he will be ashamed! As a result, he was killed by the murderer due to poor marksmanship (or poor ability). When he was about to die, he finally released the roar that had accumulated for a long time, and the anguish in his heart was released.
Therefore, I think the characterization of stan is the highlight of the film, and the distorted painting can better reflect the distortion of stan's heart.
