chaotic distortion

One of my favorite actors - Willem Dafoe's film. He always reminds me of the protagonists of "Dove" and "Tom and Vivienne". Although I can't remember who they are, they are all men with a skinny face and an alternative poet-like temperament.

It's more of a thriller than a detective movie.

Unlike "Oxford Mystery", from the beginning, I didn't plan to guess who the killer was, because the crazy and deformed world in the eyes of the madman in the film is too strong. From the beginning to the end, in fact, everyone is just following the killer's paintings.

There's no special reasoning, no obvious human nature, and the blackness of the story is so thick it feels like a painting that mixes all the colors together. Like that eccentric madman killer with computer-morphing art, or the old detective who was old and lonely and was finally engraved on a painting by the killer.

This film is more of an explanation of alternative perspectives in art. For any matter, the angle of view of the problem is different, and the conclusions drawn are also different. So the killer's painting is one painting from one angle and another from another, even distorted by a spherical mirror. In the end, only the killer's "DEATH" was engraved on the paintings he completed with other people's lives. All, the old detective ultimately failed to save anyone, along with his old partner, friends and himself.

I've watched a lot of this kind of film, and although I can understand the director's idea of "alternative observation points", to explain it in such a crazy way, I'm afraid it will make others crazier.

I am actually very interested in the artist friend of the old detective in the film, the artist who is slightly lazy but very relaxed; there are also two portraits of the famous cardinal, the serious sitting and the scary in front of the bloody steak, All are masterpieces in art history.
