That was the age of video.
In high school, I was in the video tape from morning till night at my classmate’s house.
I didn't watch horror movies less during that time. Looking back now, the most watched movies were actually 5-10 years later than the era.
Recently, I started looking for older horror movies or B-level movies one after another.
Coincidentally, I found that the most prosperous period of this kind of movies seems to be concentrated in the 85-90 years. I don’t understand the history of B-level movies, but in the past few years, there are really too many similar movies to watch. Come, and there are many works that still seem to be full of sincerity.
For example, this [DOLLS] should be a typical work of the haunted doll type.
The story structure is very complete, basically the mature configuration of the genre.
At the same time, in some details, there is often no shortage of colorful clips, such as the scenes of the killing of dolls in this film, which still seem to make people understand.
Moreover, it is interesting that due to technical limitations, many special effects of the year can only be carried out by frame-by-frame animation, instead, they create a different weird effect.
Remember that the hyena in [Group Corpses Played in the World] is still a hyena? That kind of effect cannot be replaced by CG.
If anyone can give me some pointers, from the perspective of film history, why a large number of B-level films emerged during the 85-90 period, please contact me, thank you very much, and I am very interested in understanding.
Thanks.
