From surprise to everyday

Yesterday, I filmed the first film in the legendary film history, the Lumière Brothers' "Train Into the Station", 1895, 1 minute.

A train came from a distance, slowly stopped at the platform, and the crowd rushed towards the train.

This video can't be more commonplace for today's audience. However, the audience 120 years ago was really scared by this minute. Because they had never seen a moving image before, the audience thought that the train was about to rush out of the screen, and they fled with fear.

This is an interesting moment, the childhood of the movie. In contrast, when we were new to images in childhood, we probably had reactions similar to fear and surprise, and countless fantasies about the monster of images.

Since then, technology has gradually become an inseparable part of the body's perception system, and the body no longer rejects it. From surprise to daily life, it is a microcosm of the effect of technology on us in the past century. Science creates dreams, but also devours dreams.
