Always five stars

Chief Jia's films are always five-star.

Objectively speaking, his new work may not be as good as "Old Man in Mountains and Rivers" in terms of visibility, and it still repeats his past self without too many new ideas. However, this is exactly what he has said on many occasions. Telling stories from life experiences that I know and have real feelings about. The rivers and lakes here are just appearances. Behind the discussion of the stories of the children of the rivers and lakes is a scrutiny of the shock of the times and the great changes in the environment.

Jia Zhangke paid tribute to his previous works in the film, and made a simple review in the way of series. The application of popular songs is still a way of expression that he never tires of, and the timing and occasion are just right.

Liao Fan perfectly interprets the small town eldest brother's initial boldness, the embarrassment after compromise, and the final powerless unwillingness, while Zhao Tao splendidly portrays a character in the actual heroine drama. It does not affect the role at all, and the cameos of Zhang Yi, Xu Zheng and others are also in place.

The last scene of the film is poignant and tragic, with an anti-dramatic approach and a profound language in the lens. The whole story is worth experiencing again and again.
