I have been listening to the song "Reality" for many years, but today I learned that it turned out to be the theme song of a movie called "First Kiss".
I don't watch many French films. In my impression, France always gives me a feeling of romance, freedom, and art; and this film from the 1980s did not disappoint me. And to be honest, I originally thought the plot contained in it was relatively simple, nothing more than the ignorant love story of a girl in adolescence, but after watching it, I dared not say it, because I felt that I didn’t really understand it. There's still a lot of stuff in it.
Oh yes, Sophie Marceau is officially my favorite French actress! I've fallen for her face, it's so beautiful! In addition, there is nothing to say about her acting skills. She vividly interprets a thirteen-year-old girl's careful thoughts - speaking of which she was only fourteen years old when this movie was made, so she may be acting in her true colors!
"First Kiss" is mainly about two lines: the youthful love of the heroine Wei and the marriage love between her parents.
The embarrassing thing for me is that I'm between two age groups, and I'm reminiscing about the former as someone who has come before. The inner thoughts of those boys and girls are really funny and youthful! The latter is not so empathetic - although the scene of Wei's parents at the airport and the restaurant in the end really touched me, it was the only point in the whole film that almost made me cry, but I was just a no-brainer in the face of marriage. What an outsider with a right to speak. Children have the troubles of children, and adults have the worries of adults!
Some trivial things that have nothing to do with love: for example, Wei attended the dance party at his classmate's house and didn't want others to see that his parents sent him, and the boy who held the dance party didn't want to let his parents stay at home, because these would make people feel very embarrassed—— In fact it does. The parents in the film are relatively open-minded in this regard, and they can also understand their children, which makes me more moved and recognized. But they were also worried about their children: as the dance drew to a close, the streets were full of parents waiting: fathers outside the phone booth waiting to contact their children, mothers in the car, anxious.
Back in the adult world, "First Kiss" is still a comedy after all: in order to cover up the affair with his old lover, Wei's father asked his friend to put a cast on him, and even smashed his friend's car in a fake play—— Even if it's a cliché plot, I still buy it - this part really hurts my stomach laughing. After laughing, I can't help but enter the sage mode, and the director's control of the film's rhythm is also quite professional. "Extremely happy and sad", Wei's father finally confessed to his wife, and then the two continued to misunderstand and reconcile, which made me, a young man, sigh - this is marriage!
Wei's grandmother also made a deep impression on me. She was the person who had the greatest influence on Wei's growth. In the process of exploring each other, adolescent boys and girls need such a role to guide them and slowly understand what is what. In addition, she also subverted my impression of female drivers.
All in all, "First Kiss" is a healing comedy in my opinion, but it doesn't stop there.
