After watching "The Doll" and "Swing", I wanted to sit down and write a movie review several times, but every time I put my hand on the keyboard, I began to become very impatient and restless. It turns out that language is not inherently limited. Sex is not too many feelings that cannot be described in words. Most of the time, I admit that I am short of words.
About films such as "Guling Street Teenage Murder Case", "Breakthrough", "Sunny Day", "Suzhou River", "Xiao Wu", when I think about it, I feel uncomfortable. I can't tell exactly what's going on, as if there's a small area in my chest that's blocked and I can't let it go.
This is probably the longest movie I've ever watched. Nearly four hours of narration, if you don't know Taiwan in that era, and the youth memories of that era, it's almost difficult to sit for four hours, just facing a group of unruly boys and those crappy tuba. Italic subtitles.
I've been looking for this movie for a long time, and the version I'm watching now has a blurry, old-fashioned look, and I can hardly make out Zhang Zhen's face. Of course, more than ten years ago, Zhang Zhen may not have been born so good-looking now. Zhang Zhen, Chen Qizhen, Soda Green, Gui Lunmei, Nature Volume, Zhang Xuan. These people who marked Taiwan's independent music and independent film have changed from non-mainstream to mainstream, from niche to public, which makes people unconsciously disappointed. I seem to have gone too far. Movies like this are full of restless youth, like "Guling Street Teenage Murder Case", a lot of "Miss, I fuck, MLGB, good dick", which makes us easily boil over. In the movie, Yang Jingyi's voice is very nice, with the sweetness and crispness unique to adolescent girls. Such a girl is destined to be a catastrophe for certain boys. Unfortunately, Zhang Zhen won the bid. He begged bitterly because of what he liked, and was destroyed because of what he could not get. Love is always the simplest and the most complicated.
In the growth of each of us, there are places like "small parks", which may be an entity or just an obsession. Zhang Zhen lives here, and he is happy to live in such a small world, although he is different from other boys in the "small park". He has his own principles. Apparently he was not as slick and mature as Yang Jingyi, so he was involved in the gang wars between the teenagers that could have been avoided. As for Yang Jingyi, I prefer to call her a woman rather than a girl. The biggest difference between a woman and a girl is probably that the former knows what she needs, not just what she likes, and knows what skills or means to use to grab those things. This just applies to Yang Jingyi.
In "Guling Street Teenage Murder Case", everything is marginalized. As far as the topic of youth is concerned, there is no absolute right or wrong in everything. Yang Jingyi's amorous feelings, she only knows "what she needs" among several boys, but has no intention of getting involved in gang fights and caught in the dilemma of love and friendship, Zhang Zhen, who tragically died under the train, and the source of the murder. The most innocent of ponies, and they're all right. They just lived in Taiwan in the early 1960s, it seems that all of this has become very gray and ambiguous because of that special historical period, and loss and despair are always the mainstream.
Yang Dechang is successful. This kind of success lies in the fact that he used a special sense of distance to express the interpersonal indifference in the materialized society too easily, but the indifference is not cold-blooded. When you clearly see Zhang Zhen's change, you can clearly change from being well-behaved and calm with him. You have to get away from depression to understand what it means.
