A spiritual epic

One day in the third grade of elementary school, my deskmate told me mysteriously, have you read the book "Tangshan Earthquake"? My answer is of course no. Then, the next day, he brought the book to me from home.
So, for the first time in my young mind, I had the concept of disaster. In the days of reading this book, I often have insomnia, and I always have to open the curtains to see what color the sky is in the early morning. When you close your eyes, the tragic situation described in the book will appear in your mind: half of the human body is pressed into the reinforced concrete board, and the other half is exposed; after the huge heat wave rushed the whole person to the ceiling, leaving a Imprint of human oil composition. . . . . . That year I also read a book called "The Tales of Shakespeare's Plays", which seemed to be open.
If I had a reading influence ranking, Qian Gang's 1986 non-fiction "Tangshan Earthquake" would definitely rank high. After the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, I thought of this book again - oh, in the words of Director Feng's film, it should be, I didn't remember it, I didn't forget it. This year, "Tangshan Earthquake" released a new version, and it was out of stock for a time. I also bought an old 86-year-old version for my collection, but never flipped through it again.
When I read "The Great Tangshan Earthquake", I didn't shed any tears - I was completely dumbfounded and stunned. The powerful stimulus made me have the illusion that an earthquake might occur at any time and lasted for many days. Now, when I watch "Tangshan Earthquake", I haven't shed any tears - since I saw the rigid rule that the minimum ticket price for the first round must not be lower than 35 yuan when I bought the ticket, I was screwed. Moreover, the conductor gave me a pack of heart-printed tissues while stuffing me with the movie tickets. This kind of forcible psychological suggestion to the audience is really not very clever.
One of the selling points of the movie is positioned on the "Chinese spiritual epic". The word epic contains the soul-stirring, and should have a noble sense of classicism, typical and eternal, with a kind of solemn and condensed higher than life. And a tall hat like "Spiritual Epic" is a little more strenuous to wear: it's a potential trip to Odysseus, and even mysticism. Buddha said: can not say.
Obviously, the small group of Feng Xiaogang and Su Xiaowei did not wear their high hats correctly. The whole film shows a crappy little family spirit - Feng Xiaogang is not a little family member, those Lunar New Year files with good reputation at the box office prove that he is very good at shooting small characters. One of his magic weapons is "self-deprecating", which is not low. But if in a movie called "spiritual epic", there are a lot of things such as how to deal with the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, how the adoptive mother can't understand how the adoptive father cares for the adult adopted daughter, the middle-aged man who pretends to be crazy about his female neighbors, The so-called excellent senior brother who has no responsibility forcing his girlfriend to have an abortion, and the girlfriend uses love to support her daughter to bring up her daughter and then marry an old foreign lawyer. 2 hours spanning 32 years, Feng Xiaogang's ability to control is still in question, and the rhythm of the movie is messed up. Fragmented narrative brings fragmented viewing experience, coupled with indiscriminate advertising, urban image promotion and other non-narrative demands, entering the play has become a major problem for the audience. And a group of "Golden Wedding"-style front and back shots and lackluster camera scheduling (windows, various windows) all lack the basic sincerity of film as an art.
Maybe it's too early to mention "spiritual epic", just like the anachronism of the film itself: until one day, cost and box office will no longer be the main topic of publicity, and the director will no longer take the extremely emotional and personal form of tears as a measure The standard for the quality of a movie is that "News Network" will no longer report the movie screening twice within three days to show its importance, so that the reconstruction of the ruins of the soul can proceed in a reasonable and orderly manner. At least at that time, everyone will understand that not everything can be sold. Now, in an era when garlic can be regarded as a stock, only buying and selling is king.

  • Dong Guilan: [displeased, very quietly] What a disgrace.

Wang Deqing: Are you talking about me? What have I done?

Dong Guilan: The child is already grown up. Look at what you're wearing.

Wang Deqing: [glances at his casual T-shirt and shorts] Huh, I'm at home. Should I be dressed like a king? Can't I even enter my own child's room?

  • Dong Guilan: The two of you are the ones I care most about in my life. But you both... never wanted to be with me.
