Rick was hurt by an alternate self in an alternate universe, and then he went for revenge, immersed in his own pain, and killed innocent people.
But that's not enough for him, he wants to create infinite parallel universes, and in each of them, there is Morty to serve him.
At first he also made Morty by manipulating his daughter and son-in-law, and later he started mass-producing Morty for efficiency.
It seems that he gradually built up his feelings for Morty in the process - but, for narcissism, he abandoned Morty without hesitation, until he was deceived by the crows and came back to Morty sadly.
He'd never really cared about Morty with all his heart.
He's just a giant baby with a high IQ.
Finally one day, a Morty woke up and began to take revenge.
What this Evil Morty wants is not simple revenge, he wants to completely leave Rick's narcissistic parallel universe and create his own universe.
