For a two-hour, twenty-seven-minute film, at the end of the film, a quarter of the audience could have the patience to read the subtitles at the end, which should be said to be a successful work.
Music, photography, action design, and plot are all worth admiring, but there are still deficiencies in stunts, performances, screenwriting, and scenery. It can only be said that it is a masterpiece worth watching, but not a masterpiece.
First of all, let’s talk about the music. The first climax music of the film appeared in the part where the Seven Swords appeared in the “Wu Zhuang Counterattack”. The music effect is so good that it is comparable to the background music in "Stone Shattering" (don't tell me you haven't heard the music of "Stone Shattering", remember KENT's first small film work "The Eve of Pearl Harbor" in NUS? It's that music, which is often found borrowed in some major TV stations' film and television programs).
Photography, when it comes to photography, I have to mention Lao Mouzi's martial arts film "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers". Laomouzi's photography is about visual enjoyment. If you cut any shot of the above two films, you can participate in the photography exhibition. You can cut any 10-second shot and you can use it as a commercial, and any 5-minute shot can be used as a travel promotion. film (or the Olympic bid). It's a pity that "Seven Swords" took a completely different route. The lens filter is either a light color that is almost black and white, or a yellow color, which is a bit like "Moonlight Box" photography style. The advantage is that it is almost quaint, with subtle color changes to guide the audience's emotions. Photography can not be said to be a visual enjoyment, it is indeed in line with the needs of the film. The color that can impress people in the film is the big red lantern at the beginning, and the peacock green of the Korean beauty.
Needless to say about the action design, Xu Ke's film is still very beautiful, and even cotton fabrics such as Liming, Yang Caini, and Lu Yi are used in battle.
Since the props called "Seven Swords" have also put a lot of effort into it, it goes without saying that the protagonist's Seven Swords of the Tianshan Mountains are ingenious in design and exquisite in workmanship. Sister Yang held a sword in her hand that flickered forwards and backwards, reminiscent of the "weird elf gun" in "Domestic Lin Linqi"; Donnie Yen's You Long Sword with excellent surround sound was obviously inspired by "Blade Warrior". 〉Influenced by the design idea of the sword in it; the wolf tooth shield, blood drop, small hand crossbow, crescent knife, and willow leaf gauntlet in the hands of the bandits also have some background. I wonder if there are shrewd businessmen who dare to imitate a batch of "Seven Swords" ornamental models to sell in this craze, there must be a market.
Speaking of the failures in the film, there are also a lot of baskets. The first is the lines. The beginning of the film is in Tibetan, and about one-fifth of the dialogue in the middle is in Korean. The Chinese lines include seven or eight dialects such as Shaanxi, Shandong, Tangshan, and Henan, not including a few Hong Kong people. The actor's tongue-tied Mandarin, and the eloquent Beijing dialect of several old mainland actors! ! If you only listen to the dialogue, it is simply a dialect sketch. Where is Sun Honglei in the role of the wind and fire? It's like playing "Shanghai Beach Prequel", sometimes gags, sometimes naive, sometimes brutal, sometimes pure and persistent, which makes people laugh unnaturally and hate them uncomfortable.
The second failure is the extras. When the servants behind the prince, the gunners next to the cannons, and the villagers who fought bravely against the enemy in Wuzhuang appeared in the camera, they all looked around and looked dumb. Could it be that Director Xu's attention was all attracted by several big names, and such scenes were not retaken?
Not to mention the set, there are obvious traces of excavator construction on the earth wall where the wolf fell down, the artillery firing has no recoil, and the village of Wuzhuang is a cornfield except for a village council hall. Are the villagers still used to it? Sleeping in the cornfield?
By the way, at the end of the film, when the traitor is revealed and begins to slaughter the villagers, the scenes, sound effects, actions, and camera usage are all like the scenes in "The Shining". Did I hear it wrong? Which boss next time to go to help me confirm.
Not much to say, it is still worth watching in general, only the music and props are worth watching, not to mention the Korean beauty Kim So-yeon, Kung Fu star Donnie Yen, handsome young man Lu Yi, tender sister Yang Cai Ni, Yu Lao Mi Jian Liming, funny and deflated Sansun Honglei. Old, small, gorgeous, tender, nostalgic, fresh, violent, funny, what are you waiting for?
