"Balloon" is a very typical western theme movie. Of course, both the rhythm of the movie and the completion of the story belong to the relatively excellent level of the main theme movies, and the plot is very exciting.
The plot of the film is relatively simple, that is, it tells the story of two families who escaped from East Germany to West Germany by hot air balloon. The whole story is imbued with Western values from start to finish: freedom above all else. But from the perspective of the audience, the choice of the protagonist is actually not wise. In the movie, the protagonist and his party escaped the siege and interception of the East German military and police and escaped smoothly. But how many people have been so successful in real history? Most people are not so lucky. The protagonist chooses to risk the life of the family, there must be a plausible reason. There is no explanation in these movies (of course, after the first failure, the second escape is a last resort), but it is mentioned that he did not learn physics because of his family background. In fact, in the movie, the living conditions of the protagonist's family are quite good. He is a single family, has a TV at home, and the secret police of the neighbors also treat the protagonist as a good friend. From a personal point of view, there is absolutely no need for such a family to risk their lives to escape. What's more, in order to escape, they abandoned their elderly father, their favorite objects, and other people who were very important to them. The reason for taking risks, in a word, is the pursuit of freedom. In fact, this excessive pursuit of freedom will lead to a morbid psychology. There is an outbreak in Italy right now, but people take to the streets with banners to protest against the government restricting their freedom. This is the result of overdone liberalism.
Of course, saying this is not intended to exonerate East Germany. East Germany is in the same vein as the Soviet Union, and their model has been proven wrong by history. We are taking a different route, but under a similar system there is still a danger of slipping into a repressive regime like East Germany. This must always be vigilant.
