"The Evil Dead" just happened to be watched a few days ago, and now I think of it, I still have the feeling of "Bloodblood". People always say that crime movies are the gold standard of Korean movies, and their crime movies have a shadow of Hong Kong's violent aesthetics. Subjectively speaking, the photography and editing seem to hold up the entire film.

In the film, the police officers collude with the gangsters, and the gangster bosses give umbrellas to the female students. In the portrayal of round characters, the director prefers to use different angles of lighting outlines and the combination of ambient color temperature to illustrate the inner nature of the characters. The brightness of the film is small, and the colors are spread through red, green and orange, and three filters. Red symbolizes radicalism and violence, green has both chivalrous and evil meanings, and orange has a sense of power and excitement, and its penetrating power is second only to red, which is easy to cause visual fatigue. In the film, a large number of facial close-up shots make us penetrate into the inner activities of the characters, and the penetration is so strong. By the way, Zhang Dongxiu in the film looks like a "godfather" hero no matter how he looks at it. His obsession with Ma Dongxi's tough guy image and his forcible gold affixing also undermine the depth and strength that the film should have.

The control of photography and quick editing makes violence not only an image of "evil", but a texture of "pain" translated through the senses. The director knows how to use photography to express the action style from boxing to blood, and also reflects the brotherhood between men. More importantly, he also knows how to use movies to express personal feelings.

But the only weakness of this film is also the biggest flaw. It is the speculation of the plot. The murder motive of the perverted murderer and the handling of the final court scene are too taken for granted. The killer's indiscriminate killing and the way of killing are more like satisfying some kind of perverted desire, and the reasons for the shadow of childhood fail to make the characters stand up as flesh-and-blood characters. The courtroom drama is not only out of touch with the previous atmosphere of criminal suspense, but even though it returns to the original narrative structure and rhythm in the prison scene that ends abruptly at the end, it still feels like the way of a criminal pursuit type film. It fails to reflect the depth of crime films, that is, the performance of "evil" is not to promote evil, but to call people to stop evil.
