I still like the first half of this movie. From different aspects, it reflects a real Ye Wen, not only Ye Wen who knows martial arts, but as a local person at the time, to portray it. He is outstanding in kung fu, and he has to sigh. What's the use of learning kung fu to stump heroes with a penny? My wife is here, and a quilt is given by the apprentice with money. After hearing about my wife’s bad news, the expression of loss made me feel that this was Ye Wen, a "person" who would cry and fall to the ground when his relatives leave, not on the screen. One Ye Wen came out.
As for the martial artist, Ye Wen’s story is very good. When the apprentices are arguing about the strike, the master can play chess calmly, but when they finally come out to stop, they just say a little, they are not united. How to get to ×× (forgot). For things beyond one's own ability, know enough to stop. During the contest with Master Wu of Baihe, the martial arts were first written before the martial arts, the closed-door learning, and the martial arts competition ended abruptly. This is the realm of martial arts and the cultivation of martial arts practitioners. Retract and unfold freely, just to find out, not to dispute the length of the inch. This movie, I am very satisfied with this movie, and I want to give it 10 points.
But what happened later? I really suspect that this was edited by two directors. Since the death of Ye Wen's wife, some plots have been forced, giving people a feeling of running towards the set ending. A statement clearly is a figure who has already been in the Daoism. Why should he be so loyal and uncompromising, and slap others so hard, why the black boss will not retaliate. Who would be a boss like this? Brother? The fighting part is also pure nonsense. Poisoning is the specialty of gangsters. It is so easy to be seen by laymen. How can it be fooled? Ye Wen took a group of people to fight in groups to save the apprentices, and usually didn't go to so many arenas. Why was it that day, as if everyone had negotiated, and telepathically, ran to save people? A man in a small martial arts hall managed to get a gangster, how did the black boss get here, how could he survive without any tricks? Something went wrong, the boss rushed to the forefront? And Ye Wen was so stupid and naive to force his apprentice Asheng to arrest people, and he told the "bad guys" clearly about the plan. This was different from Ye Wen, who was in a martial arts realm who was in a good manner when drinking herbal tea before. The final battle is a bit redundant, perhaps to echo the title of the final battle, but this battle didn't seem so thrilling, the black boss didn't have much resistance, and there was no trump card in his hand.
Of course, I also realize that the director needs a brilliant ending, not to tear down the stage, anyway, the second half of the film made my evaluation of this movie drop sharply.
But having said that, this movie is my favorite Yip Man, because this Yip Man is not the Kung Fu Yip that was shot again and again, nor the Yip Wen who used to express the martial arts in Wong Kar-wai's hands, but a good one. Birth, old age, sickness and death, there is a trivial Ye Wen who will be frustrated, will collapse, have stomach problems, and have smoked opium... This Ye Wen is real.
