Charlotte Gray by Gillian Armstrong

I came after Cate Blanchett, but found out that the director was Gillian Armstrong at the beginning of the film, which made me full of expectations for this film. Gillian's famous work My Brilliant Career is also a film about women, which I really like.

This Charlotte Gray also adheres to Armstrong's consistent and delicate style: the photography follows the protagonist's perspective and is fluid; the soundtrack is atmospheric and beautiful.

What's interesting is that Armstrong seems to be able to discover the handsome side of male actors. Sam Neill in My Brilliant Career made me think for the first time that he is also a handsome guy; Billy Crudup in this film (I also watched Stage Beauty starring him and Claire Danes) is also unusually handsome.

The 22-year-old Cate is already quite proficient in acting. The strange thing is that she doesn't seem to be old for many years.

Rupert Penry Jones, who plays boyfriend Peter, is also very handsome.
