Times are changing, what remains the same is the rock spirit

The guitar is not the whole of rock music, but it is enough to interpret the soul of rock music.

I love rock, but if I want to say which part of rock music I like most, I still speak very selfishly-guitar.

I know that guitar alone cannot create rock music. Without drums, the pleasure of rhythm is lost; without bass, the tone of the music is lacking; without a lead singer, the easiest and most difficult part of rock music, I think, lacks the recognition of the band. But I just like guitars for no reason.

It might get loud, the Chinese translation of this movie is called "Guitar Hero". The translator was probably a rock fan. Looking at the names of Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White, he gave a name that had nothing to do with the English title. The director of this English name is actually not a rock fan at all. When the reporter asked him why he chose these three people, the director said funny "I want to find Jimi Hendrix too". Having said that, it is precisely because the director is not obsessed with rock music that he can express the inner world of the three guitar masters in such a realistic and even a little fresh way.

The gray-haired Lord Jimmy, the slightly older Uncle Edge, and the still youthful Jack, a guitarist of three ages, make me admire the director's choice.

Lord Jimmy debuted in the "Beatles era", rock music has just started, and all innovations have driven the development of rock music. But at that time, rock was still not accepted by the public, so that after Jimmy was obsessed with carrying the guitar back to school every day to practice, the teacher confiscated his guitar and listed him as an "anti-mainstreamer." This has also created his style of making music-"rebellion", such as the use of a violin bow to pull the guitar, such as the use of a double handle guitar. He tried many things that his predecessors dared not try. Therefore, the other two juniors agreed that of the three of them, Lord Jimmy is the most punk spirit.

When Uncle Edge debuted, rock music had basically taken shape, and various genres had basically laid the foundation. In this era, it is easy to hesitate, because innovation is likely to mean disrespect to the predecessors. They debuted in the era when Punk was popular, and naturally they couldn't help imitating their predecessors. Uncle Edge walked into the former recording studio and said, "We really didn't know what we could do at the time." But they grew up. They used rock and roll to show their dissatisfaction with politics and made themselves a learning object for later generations.

Uncle Jack is the youngest of the three, but he is the most retro. I don't know much about this person, but in this movie, his talent makes me admire. He dared to improve the previous things and dared to protest against the current fashion. In this era, innovation can be accepted by the public, so Jacks can quickly find their own way.

Three generations, three kinds of rock, but when three people sit together and discuss, they can reach the same point.

What touched me most in the movie was the folk song that the three of us played together. G, C, G, Bm, four simple chords, but so beautiful. Lord Jimmy was a little embarrassed and said, "I can't sing, it's very hopeless, right?" And The Edge also played the wrong chord in a panic. Everyone has their own small shortcomings, and guitar masters are no exception.

The most exciting point in the movie is that the three of them played Led Zeppelin's In My Time Of Dying at the same time. The heavy metal of Lord Jimmy, the England of Uncle Edge, and the punk of Uncle Jack can be so harmoniously intertwined. This is the charm of the guitar.

Why did you choose rock? The Edge said at the end, "The greatest passion is creation. There is a kind of energy that connects people together. That's why I picked up the guitar." Is it difficult to create? When Lord Jimmy talked about the Divine Comedy Stairway to Heaven, he only expressed the creation process as an "involuntary flash of light". Rock comes from life, but it is higher than life. This is the charm of rock and roll.

Listening to Jack White’s favorite song without accompaniment, which is performed only by clapping hands and voice; watching Master Jimmy’s kind smile when he hears his favorite melody; watching Uncle Edge playing on the sea with speakers Silhouette of a guitar. Suddenly I feel that rock can be so quiet, so peaceful, so peaceful.

When you are groping on the road of music, you may be making history. Times are changing, and what remains unchanged is the rock spirit.
