Restless youth

If I don’t write this movie, I guess that many people will miss such a surprisingly low-cost movie that is not a classic.

There are two types of realistic movies, either depicting the fringe world to arouse your curiosity, or narrating the stories around you to make the audience feel more cordial. "Twelve" is such a contradictory film that combines the two into one—teenagers, drugs, shootings, parties, sex.
It is difficult to associate my own life with this group of American teenagers. After all, I am not a rich second-generation, neither taking drugs nor hanging out in nightclubs. I have a clean and organized life, ordinary and decent friends, and some decent hobbies. But I can always find a strong resonance from the hero's sometimes empty face, sometimes struggling forbearance, as if accepting a warm raindrop from the sky in my heart, the two merged without a sense of rejection.
How to describe that feeling.

It was a kind of restless youth, a youth that was ruined wantonly by money, desire, and indulgence. It's not like the positive youth in "High School Musical", nor the absurd youth in "American Pie." The youth here is more plausible, and the youth here is even more painful.
I didn't know what to make up for what I lost, so I dropped out of school to sell drugs after my mother died of cancer. The lack of good communication between parents and children do not know how to remedy, so they indulge in drugs and paralyze themselves with hallucinations. The neglect and prejudice against his parents cannot be forgiven, so he goes further and further on the road of rebellion, destroying all the glamorous lives with guns and ammunition.
Lost, struggling, doubting, self-denying.
Lost, desperate, banished, resigned to depravity.
Disappointment in oneself and others in the world makes a raging fire in his chest, hoping to burn everything, plunder everything and destroy everything.
All the cruel, desperate, selfish, dark thoughts have existed so real and we are tacitly aware of each other.

When I see a movie, I always think of another movie "Elephant", which is also a society where guns are flooded, and it is also the scene of the shooting. It only appeared on the campus that made "Elephant" more interesting. . I also always think of "21 Grams". It is said that the human soul is only 21 grams. I wonder if Mike's soul is not enough.

Regarding the film, director Joe Schumacher thought: "When I was shooting "Drugist News" many years ago, I collected a lot of drug-related materials. There are many real cases that make me sad. Drugs destroy a person. The easiest weapon in life and even the family, the harm he causes to people is indelible, especially the younger generation, surrounded and swallowed by various soft drugs. These are the social status quo that I want to use a movie to tell. Many people come into contact with drugs because of some unpleasant things they have experienced. In the eyes of others, they are both hateful and sad. No one in society pays attention to them. In fact, they don’t really want to fall for themselves, which is described in "12". This is the life crisis of this group of children.” In

addition, although the cost of the film is not high, the actors are not small. The protagonist is the handsome Chace Crawford in "Gossip Girl". There are also 50cent participations, and Emma Roberts et al.

Twelve quotes

  • Narrator: [on White Mike] You will not be remembered if you die now. You'll be buried and mourned by a few and what more can you ask for? The world will spiral from underneath you, and you are either too smart or too dumb to find God. Maybe you are angry, only because the way out is through love, and you are just horny and lonely.

  • Narrator: [on Sara's death] As Sara lay dying, she thought, "This will be famous and make an unbelievable story once school starts again. People will be sorry they weren't here."
