When a bird is about to die, its cry is also sad; when a man is about to die, its words are also good. It's not entirely appropriate here, but why not take it as a portrayal of Simon's mental journey when he died.
Simon's self-salvation has finally arrived, before he is about to leave this world. He, who has already committed evil, insists on completing self-salvation before he leaves. Perhaps it is a manifestation of the inherent goodness of human nature: even the evildoer is ultimately a good person.
Even so, this sincere self-salvation came too late, and everything is irretrievable. Simon's guilt deepened bit by bit between the back and forth of self-torture. And when his deceased brother Peter asked to "let down everything" like a dream, Simon finally knew that he was powerless, and the ending of his brother's death could not be changed. It's just that Simon's soul has awakened from guilt during these 2 minutes of painful self-salvation, perhaps reduced a little burden, and left the world.
"THE I INSIDE", an apt name.
There is a kind me in my heart. Let the good-natured me do good things, and don’t seek the way of salvation after irreversible.
