Sociology Proving Ground

Alps is the name of the candy I often ate when I was a kid (actually I just ate one yesterday), and it is also the largest mountain in Europe. As "Mont Blanc" said in the film, this name will not reveal what we do, and it can also appear to be unbeatable in terms of momentum. It's the company that has named it so solemnly, but it does what most people think of it—playing the dead and comforting the dead.

At the beginning of the film is a period of rhythmic gymnastics exercises, accompanied by vigorous classical music, followed by the coach's slightly violent instructions to the students. As one comment said, the film seems to throw one plot after another directly in front of the audience. The angle of view of the film is almost in the first person. We closely follow the characters in the film behind the scenes, without knowing the cause and effect, so we peep into their lives. But in fact, the work of "Alps" is not a kind of peeping? They were strangers who had little interaction with each other, but because of an unwelcome death, they became a relationship pretending to be close relatives. Accepting the death of someone close to you is always not an easy task, but finding someone to play the deceased seems to have done a little bit too late. Such crazy criticism of the movies set in Lance Moss seems to be a commonplace. He seems to be keen to use movies as an excellent way of social experimentation. He also likes to let strangers approach and influence a family.

How high is the acting requirement to play the person closest to them in front of some people? What's more, the other party also needs to restrain his inner sadness to guide and cooperate with the actors. Mastering the life habits of strangers, everyday objects and favorite actors, you can play them well. It sounds ridiculous. In fact, we can see that the actors of the Alps Company have very blunt acting skills. This is normal. The most strange thing is the "customers" who provide careful guidance and try to enjoy them. The more intoxicated they are, the more heartache they feel, like all those who try to avoid problems, don't want to face reality, and only want to live in their dreams. The closer this dream is to reality, the more painful it will be when it is broken.

One of the most industrious employees in the film should be called the heroine for the time being. In addition to her job as a nurse, she took orders one after another. Even her daily care of her father can be counted as a caregiver job except for blood relationship and salary. She seemed to be doing pretty well in the first half, but everything seemed to be out of control after she brought home the boyfriend of the girl she played before she was alive to satisfy her desires, beyond the "scope of work". The girl’s parents seemed to have tasted the sweetness in this botched performance. They hired an actor whose appearance was more similar to that of their daughter, and expelled the heroine’s daughter status; and the “Mont Blanc” who had the power of life and death in the Alps first played inexplicably. She had a meal, and then let her leave in the most embarrassed manner. At this time, the film seems to be related to reality. The heroine finally showed her humanity. She is no longer the actor who is mechanically repeated. She is a poor person who needs love and intimacy, but unfortunately has nothing.

Under the appearance of some madness, Alps is actually a very sad story. Or maybe the two are inherently related to each other.

It seems difficult to answer how important intimacy is to people, but thinking that no one can completely leave it, it seems to be able to see its importance. Perhaps it is because people cannot obtain information on survival and development completely independently, and because maintaining suspicion and temptation consumes too much energy, they ultimately have to choose to rely on each other. It seems that a declaration of independence is very popular now, saying that one does not need any intimacy and just wants to live alone. When the 21st century has entered the 1920s, this way of life may have been feasible for a long time, but I don't know whether people can stop the establishment of emotional connections with other people, and only transactional exchanges are left. After all, some people will fall in love with their friends when they ask for a gun. The weakness of human nature is more stubborn than we thought. At the same time, the accelerating modern society secretly encourages us to abandon our humanity as much as possible and become a screw, creating conditions for everyone to abandon their emotions. But this question seems to have been denied in this film. At the end of the film, even the cold gymnastics coach fulfilled the students' desire to score pop songs. Seeing her joy from head to toe, it is hard not to say that humanity flashes in it.

Outside of the movie screen, the story of Mont Blanc is still unknown. Is he also clumsy at work, or is he really able to buy and sell intimacy completely sensibly? Does the feeling of buying at a clear price make people feel more at ease? Would you rather have a play with strangers than show your sincerity? Maybe he is one of the very few people who can really live completely independent of emotions. Whether such people really exist is unknown. There may be countless people on the earth who are infinitely close to his way of life. But I, who thought I was already cold, still couldn't bear that kind of loneliness.

Good ideas don’t always have good results. It's more like playing a word game. It's true for a while and pretending to be for a while. Gradually these begin to merge together, and the game is declared dead. However, there are very few complicated discussions about human nature that can be really seen from it. It's just an experiment.

That gymnast is the director's wife, and it seems that she will also appear in "Lobster".

Alps quotes

  • Gymnast: You're the best coach in the world. You are the king of coaches.

  • Stretcher-bearer: [speaking to the nurse] We're going to do a test. I'm going to use this object. If it doesn't change colour and stays white, then it automatically means you are competent and reliable, and can stay in our group. If it changes colour, there are two possibilities. First, it might turn blue. If it turns blue, then it automatically means that you are competent, but unreliable. Therefore? There's no therefore. It doesn't really matter if it turns blue. It's just something I said. The second and worst possible outcome is for this club to turn red. Which means automatically that you are too unreliable to and too incompetent to stay with us. Let's see.

[He stares at the club for a long time. Its color does not change. Suddenly, he hits her over the head with the club]

Stretcher-bearer: It changed. It turned red. I'm afraid you'll have to go.
