This is a movie that has caused great controversy in the history of Western cinema. I agree that love can have no race, no borders or even gender, but it happens to Nazi officers and concentration camp prisoners. I even think this is not love at all, but just a crazy story between two masochists and sadists. Perhaps this is the distortion of human nature in war? This distortion can even continue until after the war, until they die.
[Max and Lucia are laughing while caressing each other]
