I watched "Judy" a few days ago, and finally remembered Renée Zellweger, a very good actor, so I wanted to see her previous movies, so I found this one.
Renée and Aunt Mei’s rivalry scene is very beautiful, and I like Renée's role (especially when she questioned her father????)
The title One True Thing should refer to the unchanging nature of family affection. For family affection and love, everyone will make compromises and sacrifices.
Speaking of it, the storyline of this film is more similar to that of Still Alice. The difference is that this film focuses on the daughter who takes care of the mother and portrays the changes in her daughter very well.
Another point worthy of scrutiny is that the father always emphasizes "less is more", so he is unwilling to devote time and energy to his wife who is seriously ill. Instead, he makes his daughter give up her promising future; the only thing is the mother who has always been tolerant and compromised with her father. I disagree on this point. The mother felt that "more is more", so she gave more and chose to tolerate her husband's infidelity, and she didn't want to drag her daughter down.
A digression, Renée at that time was really smart and cute~
