F4 and clone

F4, here is not talking about the four oily noodles in Taiwan, but about the fantastic 4, the Fantastic Four. Similarly, clone is talking about The island, escape from the cloned island.

Both of these are typical Hollywood summer action blockbusters with big productions, but the fate of the two films is one by one. The f4 box office is madly collected. Although it does not set a box office record, it is enough to make the 20th century Fox company make a lot of money. However, Clone Island suffered a fiasco at the box office and sprinkled a handful of salt on the wounds of DreamWorks, which is about to close down (the latest news is that Paramount has acquired DreamWorks).

I have watched these two films in the past two days. F4 is a typical comic adaptation film. A few ordinary people have supernatural powers for special reasons. From then on, they embark on the road of fighting crime and safeguarding justice (sounds really familiar what......). The clone island is directed by the blockbuster action film director Michael Bay, and starring two literary youths, Ivan McGregor and Scarlett Johnson, is about the hot topic in recent years-clones.

F4's popularity is not surprising. The original comics have a history of more than 40 years. There are already a large number of loyal fans, and the level is not bad. He won the 2003 Best Comic Award in the United States, plus the handsome and beautiful appearances, and the thrilling action. The scene, the most profitable summer vacation schedule, all of this caused him to sell out. On the contrary, the fiasco of escaping from the clone island is quite surprising. Director Michael Bay’s name has always been a guarantee of the box office. The plot of the movie has caught the hot topic of human cloning. These alone are enough to attract people to watch, but why does it fail?

After watching Escape from the Island of Clone, I personally feel that the film is actually just average, not very bad. He has all the elements of blockbuster action movies. Michael Bay’s best action scenes are as hot as ever, which can make you zero brain cell damage. Spent two hours of visual effects bombardment. But compared with the director’s previous films, it can be seen that the film has not made any progress at all. The series of crashes, fierce gun battles, and huge explosions all give people the feeling of deja vu. When it comes to the topic of human cloning, the director is actually just a taste of it. It’s just using this topic as a foil for the action scene, without much depth. Of course, this is not Michael Bay’s strengths, but it’s just this simple taste that makes the first half of the film slow and slow, which will make you look forward to it. The audience watching the action scenes feel bored, and the latter part seems to be for compensation, the rhythm is much faster, and the hot action scenes follow one after another, so you can't rest for a moment, but it makes people feel tired. This incoordination of the rhythm of the front and back can be said to be the biggest failure of the film. Is it because this time I did not cooperate with the gold medal producer Jerry Bruckheimer, so I lost control of the whole film? In addition, the ending of the film is also a failure. It seems very bright. The clones have escaped from the bunker and seem to be free, but what about the clones? How do they gain social recognition? Does it kill the body like the male protagonist and replace it? So this ending is actually very hopeless and can only become a tragedy. From these perspectives, it is not surprising that the film's box office failed. However, the film is not without any bright spots. At least the scene cutting performance of the film's leading actor's dream is very good, but it is a pity that there are not many such bright spots.

It's nothing good. Why was it so hot in the first place?

Fantastic Four quotes

  • Johnny Storm: Wake up, Ben. Hey, rise and shine, big boy. How you feeling?

    Ben Grimm: Where am I?

Johnny Storm: Back on Earth. We're in quarantine. Victor's medical facility.

    Ben Grimm: Reed? Sue?

Johnny Storm: Oh, they're fine. Everybody else is fine.

Ben Grimm: What's wrong with me?

Johnny Storm: I swear to you, Ben, they've done everything humanly possible. The best plastic surgeons in the world are here, Ben. You had the best.

[Johnny picks up a hand mirror on the bed table before Ben can reach it, reluctant to give it to him]

Ben Grimm: Give me that mirror.

Johnny Storm: I don't think if that's a good idea. They said the shock alone...

Ben Grimm: I said, give me that goddamn mirror!

Johnny Storm: Okay, Ben. Just be strong.

[Ben grabs it from him. Then slowly raises it to look and see that he's totally normal]

Johnny Storm: Unfortunately, the doctors just couldn't do anything to fix your face.

  • Johnny Storm: [to Reed] Hey. Nice do. Likin' the grandpa look.
