RM philosophy meaning S04E01: Death, life and others—A little bit of everything

No matter what civilization you are in, death is one of the most serious considerations.

Life is often compared to a one-way path from birth to death. We are afraid of death. Human beings have been working hard to prolong their lives and postpone the inevitable death since the record. No one, except for those cases exaggerated or even adapted by history, will die for a certain thing or a certain belief. Most people seek advantages and avoid disadvantages all their lives, even when they are in distress, they seek perfection. We are walking on a carefully designed, sometimes winding life path. We bear the most primitive responsibility of life-try to live as long as possible-and try to find the value of life in this process. Once you find too hard, it will produce fear of life.

We, or like Morty, do not live in the fear of death, but in the constant worry that we will not be able to achieve our goals in life. A more direct side effect of these worries is to obscure one's life goals, doubt one's life goals, and even question oneself. When he suffered a little setback, Morty simply gave up his love for Jessica, he chose to realize plan B of his life in various adventures. However, for the general public without a portal gun, worries will only accumulate, and giving up will only turn into regret, and to a certain extent (become depression), we even think about it. Because direct death is better than constant fear/disappointment. If the god of death exists, this must be the most delicate trap of the god of death.

Morty's failure in life is doomed. He is willing to kill for a 100% certain result, but he is unwilling to approach the girl for the confession of possible failure. He is too eager to be able to "fully realize" his dream, allowing Jessica to accompany him to the end of her life, and is unwilling to make substantial actions. However, the real life is not certain. What's more sad is that we don't have a death crystal that can accurately predict the future. We can't even guess the next result at all. All we can do is try our best. However, Morty is unwilling to even try his best. What he wants is a 100% guarantee. This is a typical escape, the defect of personality-he is afraid of failure, worried that he cannot bear failure, so he imprisoned himself in a safe area acceptable to him, and refused to try. "If you are afraid of being rejected, reject the other party first" has become a symbol's motto. Adler advocated in his inferiority complex and transcendence:

Life is to be interested in people, to be a part of the whole, to contribute my strength, and to seek the well-being of mankind.

If Morty really understands love, then he should shift the focus from possible failures to thinking about Jessica wholeheartedly, approaching her, and giving her happiness, even if he can't realize his desire to grow old together. Morty, who has lost Rick, has become a normal child. If he always evades and dare not take a step, then only Zhu Gu is waiting for us.

As for the live in the moment that Rick said in this episode, it is the palest and weakest sermon. Rick, who is not afraid of death, is entirely because he can use his abilities to escape death, and he is truly immortal. The premise of fully living in the present is to ensure that you can withstand the worst consequences.

Rick can, can we?

For me personally, the best balance is to find the balance of chasing my goal while living in the moment. As Rick said in the warehouse at the end, a little of this, a little of that, doing nothing, doing anything, this is the best drama watching experience that Rick and Morty brings to me. Life is not smooth (even for Rick That is also the case) We need a variety of flavoring agents.
