"The Kiss of Spider-Woman": This sad gay movie is romantic to death!

Last year, "Call Me by Your Name", which was based on a best-selling book, became a hit. The gay movie "Moonlight Boy" was a big hit at the Oscars the previous year. Calculating it forward, "Brokeback Mountain", "Lan Yu", etc. It is a gay movie that audiences are familiar with. Their love is either sweet or painful. In short, it is clear at a glance.

Today I’m going to talk about an old 1985 movie "The Kiss of the Spider Woman", adapted from the Argentine writer Manuel Puig’s novel of the same name. This novel also inspired the writer Yan Geling and prompted her to write " "White Snake" explores the depth and breadth of human nature.

The movie "The Kiss of Spider-Woman" follows the dialogue mode of the novel, but the story is simplified. It is about a revolutionary and a gay man who are locked in the same room in prison. The two have completely different personalities. In the first half of the page, they are talking to themselves or bickering, but the rhythm slowly accelerates, and the final climax is repeated. Some people say that this is a story of a gay straight guy, but the actual situation is much more vague than this.

The gay Molina and the revolutionary Valenti were locked up in a cell in a prison in Argentina. Molina dressed as a woman and was sentimental, while Valenti had a strong will and did not reveal the secrets of the organization in the face of torture.

In order to pass the boring time, Molina began to tell Valenti the story of the movie he had seen: the beautiful French singer Renee and the handsome German officer Weiner fell in love at first sight.

Valenti thought it was a fascist movie, and then he gave a ruthless mockery of the two people's realistic situation. Molina felt boring and stopped talking about it.

Early in the morning, Valenti found a political prisoner in the prison opposite, and began to worry. So Molina was about to continue telling the movie, but Valenti interrupted, and the two went to sleep.

Molina was called by the warden to talk. It turned out that her mother was sick and he was worried. In order to divert his attention, Valenti asked Molina to tell a story. When talking about the plot of Renee's maid being murdered, Valenti fell into deep thought. It turned out that he thought of his girlfriend.

The two had breakfast. Molina suggested that Valenti write to his girlfriend, but Valenti firmly refused, because this would expose his girlfriend. At the same time, Molina thought of his sick mother and began to cry, and then he recalled his love: he fell in love with a handsome married waiter, but the other party only regarded him as a friend.

Just after speaking, Molina had diarrhea and was sent to the infirmary. After returning, she continued to tell the movie: Renee went to Weiner's house, and the relationship between the two went further.

At this time, Valenti found that the political prisoner opposite had been tortured again, angrily knocked on the prison door and cursed the prison guard as a "murderer." Molina wanted to dissuade, but was pushed to the ground by Valenti, yelling at him for "like a woman", and the heartless Molina vowed never to talk to Valenti again.

The next day, after the two had breakfast, Valenti had a terrible pain in his stomach, but he would never ask for help. He suggested that Molina tell a story to relieve the pain. The plot of the movie developed to the point that Renee and Weiner fell in love with each other deeply. Halfway through, Valenti pulled on his pants. He was weak and ashamed, but Molina cleaned him up gently and patiently, and the two reconciled.

Valenti, who opened his heart, talked about his girlfriend Marta and how he was arrested. In a blink of an eye, Molina was summoned by the warden and asked to tell Valenti’s details. Molina concealed it, saying that it would take time. In addition, he also asked the warden to buy some roasted chicken and canned food, so that he could make it. Lenti relaxes his guard.

Valenti and Molina feasted, and the latter continued to tell the movie: René found out that Weiner had massacred the French people and asked him angrily, while Weiner took her to see the truth about how the French rulers enslaved the people. Renee was persuaded by Weiner and loved him even more. Then Renee helped Weiner trap the leader of the French Resistance, but was shot and died in Weiner's arms. The movie ends.

Valenti's political prisoner friend was killed. He felt that the secrets of the organization were about to be leaked. He lost his temper at Molina who cared about him, but then he sincerely apologized, and Molina was greatly moved.

The warden met with Molina again, and Molina suggested that if he pretended to be released, Valenti might say what was in his heart out of nostalgia. The warden agreed and pointed out that this was his last chance.

After Valenti learned that Molina was about to be released from prison, he was really happy for him, which made Molina very sad. He talked about another movie: Once upon a time, on a tropical island, a strange woman lived. She was covered by a huge spider web, a spider web that grew out of her body. One day, a man caught in the waves was washed to the shore. She fed him food, healed him, nourished him with love, and saved his life. When he woke up, he saw a perfect teardrop from the woman. Slid down in his mask.

After speaking, Valenti hugged and comforted Molina, and the two hugged to sleep. The next day, the warden still did not get any information from Molina. He made a living and decided to release Molina and then send someone to watch.

Molina reluctantly packed his luggage, Valenti asked him to help take the news out, but Molina was afraid to refuse and hope to get a kiss from Valenti, when Valenti said, "Promise me, don’t When letting anyone humiliate you again", Molina decided to give it up for love and confided him.

After he was released from prison, Valenti had friends and a mother, but he was always thinking of Valenti, so he settled in with his mother and called the revolutionary connector, and all this was seen by the police.

Finally, Molina and the coupler agreed to meet in the square, but the police showed up as soon as they picked up the head. The coupler drove away quickly. Molina also wanted to intercept the car from elsewhere and report the letter, but he didn't wait until he ran to the front. Several shots were fired by the connector.

The police were about to send Molina to the hospital for rescue, but he died halfway down the road and didn't say a word to his death. The police threw him beside the garbage dump.

At the end of the movie, Valenti in the prison was also tortured to half death. Before he died, he seemed to see his girlfriend Marta. She led him out of the prison. The two kissed on the beach by the sea, and finally got married. Get on the boat and go elsewhere...

Accompanied by the dreamy movie music, a sigh. Valenti and his girlfriend rushed to the happy paradise, and Molina who was shot calmly closed his eyes. Only he himself knew whether he died happy or sad.

This is a sad movie. The protagonist Molina is the strongest character. Hidden under his exaggerated and greased body is a heart riddled with holes. Life is full of boredom and pain. There is no harbor to dock and no empathetic eyes. His state is the predicament of homosexuality and the predicament of the marginalized people at the bottom. The desperate reality of life and the obsession with love and beauty make his life undesirable and tragic and moving. William Hurt also won the Oscar winner for his interpretation of this role.

This is a romantic movie. If Renee and Weiner wearing high-cold masks are Molina's unrealistic obsession with beautiful love, then the strange Spider-woman is indeed him, a cocooned person who desires to be understood. The first story is weird with a sense of joy, and the second story is magical and sad, dotted with the blue-gray prison life of the two.

This is a serious movie. A homosexual who has never faced the reality participated in the revolution, and a revolutionary who was full of politics accepted softness. Who on earth is living more dreamily?

If the revolution is not for people to love freely, it is reactionary. It was for that little gleam that the long night was bearable.

  • Luis Molina: No matter how lonely she may be she keeps men at a distance.

Valentin Arregui: She's probably got bad breath or something.
