Obviously it is such a movie full of curse, conflict, and excitement, but I am calm from beginning to end. This calmness comes from being helpless after shock. As a healthy person, it is difficult to imagine the fear of being dominated by death all the time, but perhaps this fear has inspired the bravery of ACT UP. In fact, the members of ACT UP are not as selfless and great as other charity organizations. They are not fighting for others. Most of them are for themselves and to survive. These people's demands for life are strong and true. They quarrel in meetings, do not give in to each other, and are sensitive and angry about issues involving their own interests. The director used meetings after meetings to show us the contradictions and persistence of this organization. In fact, at first I was extremely unsupportive of their series of violent actions by throwing blood bags. I thought it was too extreme. This would only portray ACT UP as an image of a lunatic who went to extremes because of fear of death, but the later plot changed again. I can’t help but reflect on whether the government and pharmaceutical companies will face these problems directly if such “extraordinary” things do not happen in the first place? The answer seems to be no. The government has always known about ACT UP, but it has not paid enough attention to them. After all, when death has not come to them, no one can think about it. Their "violent behaviors" actually worked very well. After all, the public is interested in such sufficiently "stimulating" incidents. Once the public starts to pay attention, the government can't pretend that they haven't seen it. The second half of the film focuses on the male protagonist’s personal feelings. The description from the big picture to the small character is a technique that many movies will use, in order to reflect the personal situation in the torrent of the times through the analysis of the protagonist’s character. This era is also composed of thousands of "protagonists". The ACT UP part of the whole film is always noisy and intense, but the protagonist’s personal life is flat and quiet. They are drawn from falling in love to staying together in a few important conversations. In the end, after Sean died, lying alone in bed formed a sharp contrast with the many people next door. I only felt that death was really lonely. Even if there were friends and relatives before death, the fear and pain would not diminish at all, because You can only face this matter alone. Even if Sean was as active, serious and even radical as someone who tried to fight for his chance of survival, he even started to give up after checking again and again. Nathan was a sensible and gentle person from start to finish, but at the end he still couldn't help himself crying. Some people questioned his feelings for Sean because of the sex in the end, but this sex scene made me Feel distressed. The chairman asked him at the beginning, "Is it just a shot?" Nathan immediately replied "Of course". Nathan liked Sean for a long time, and every time he peeked at him, the look in his eyes was true, so I don’t doubt it. His love, and from his dialogue with Sean, it can be seen that they have always maintained an open attitude towards sex. That sex incident just proved his pain and helplessness. He has always taken care of Sean alone and personally. He was injected with euthanasia, all of which was too heavy, but he was reluctant to leave. In the end, even if Xiao En died, he was just at a loss and drove out and told Xiao En's mother for a while. He has always been too gentle and strong, causing him to collapse after Sean's death. And the last bitter cry of that sex is the best proof. I am touched by their perseverance and bravery. As an organization that protects the rights of AIDS groups, ACT UP has been constantly exploring and growing. I don’t know how they got together in the first place, but the society will always need such “anger”, Such "resistance", whether it is homosexuals, prostitutes, or addicts, the voices of minority groups cannot be overwhelmed, because they live here, in the same world as you and me.
Finally, silence = death.
